Rezin - Rock & Metal Cafe Bar — Restaurant in Athens

I like to visit as many heavy metal/rock orientated bars whenever I hit a new city, Greece being a wonderfully metal-loving country I was VERY excited to check as many out as I could.

I visited five bars of this somewhat niche genre over three days and while none of them were bad, Rezin is by far and large the absolute best.

The service is wonderful, it's the type of bar where you're greeted like an old friend, the snacks were delightful and never seemed to end and the music pleasingly spans across just about every genre and subgenre of rock/metal available. Hell, it even a had a wee bit of punk thrown in for good measure.

This is a bar that has truly earned it's mythical status, and I honestly can't wait to go visit it again. But in the meantime, the excellent t-shirt that I bought from the place will be an item I will...

This place was the most heartwarming experience during my whole trip to Greece. Actually I think I have never met bar owners who ran their place with so much love for everyone and such deep passion. The owners Christoforos and Betty really take care that everyone has a great time and it's an amazing experience to just arrive there and instantly feel at home in this bar and also the city of Athens. I've stayed in Exarchia for 3 nights and we just had to come back every evening to listen to Christoforos' incredible stories and the Metal and Rock songs carefully selected by him. I visited Rezin over a decade ago as a uni student. The best hot chocolate I have ever had. The owners have meraki, they don't mess around. Then, I forgot the place's name, life continued, I happened to never come back, as I didn't know the city well and was anti-GPS.

So years later I google in greek "Athens, metal bar, chocolate, Exarheia" and Rezin comes up first. I recognise from the photos the tall chocolate mugs where they had served me and my friends that amazing drink so many years ago. I'm so happy you're still around, still rocking, and I am definitely returning ☺️
