After eating at sempriko in Thessaloniki, we decided that eating at seramiko would be a solid choce. That lied far from reality. We had a reservation for an indoor table and they asked us to go outside. They let us stay after we strongly insisted. We ordered, a salad, chorizo sausages, one Chuck eye stake and a bottle of wine (3 persons). When they brought us the bottle, they didn't ask for someone to taste it. They just through to us some bread, no water was served (only upon our request). The best part is that when we ordered the stake (29 euros) waiter thought that she could take the liberty to choose for us, how we wanted to have it cooked. Never asked us and left table once we finished order. When it finally came, one part of the stake was overcooked and the other part was (at best) rear. The open chicken concept doesn't help, as we saw one of the chefs cutting it at the waiter pass and putting it back to the grill.when we somehow "finished" our dinner, another waiter came and took our plates, without asking us if we were done. 5min later, he came back, asking us if we would like desert (it is standard procedure to ask you if you finished with your dinner, take the plates from your tables and offer you the option of ordering a desert). Obviously he didn't ask following the procedure and he realised it afterwards. In general food is overpriced for the quality probided and it goes without saying that service and professionalism is not a strong asset of the restaurant.
I rarely add reviews, but I was so disappointed from the seramiko that I had to. (Maybe I was expecting more considering the quality of Sempriko in Thessaloniki). Definitely not...
Read moreI had a mind-blowing food experience at Sebriko in Thessaloniki, and when I heard about the opening of Seramiko, its Athenian sibling, I had high hopes. While it didn't quite reach the same heights, it's no slouch either. Don't get me wrong, this Kerameikos eatery still deserves its 5 stars. But on a more discerning scale, I'd dock a few for not matching Sebriko's scrumptious standards.
Situated in the vibrant Kerameikos neighborhood, it soaks in the laid-back vibes of the area.
The ambiance is chill with simple, comfy decor inside and out. Service hits all the right notes - friendly, prompt, helpful (though plate clearing could be a tad quicker).
Now, onto the main event—the food. The menu dazzles with Greek-inspired dishes and ingredients. Greens with eggs and buffalo Kavourmas are a delightful surprise for Kavurma lovers. The goat with fava is a winner, as are the hilopites with veal cheeks and cheese. As for the hyped tirokafteri with chili and paprika, it's decent but not a showstopper.
But don't miss the grilled talagani cheese with kataifi and marmalade. Baked potato with Tsalafouti is also a great side choice. However, we were not impressed with the frozen mandolato.
Overall, I'd recommend Seramiko, although it is not on my list of "must-visit"...
Read moreThe food was creative, and I really enjoyed the unique combination of flavors in the dishes. One must-try item is the pasturma pie, which was absolutely amazing—rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. Another standout was the cabbage soup with shrimp, a surprisingly delicious mix that worked beautifully together.
However, one downside was the portion sizes, especially the salad, which was very small—normally, salads are meant for sharing, but this one barely served one person. For the price and concept, I expected a bit more in terms of quantity.
Service was also on the slow side. We had to wait quite a while for the food, and when it finally started arriving, it came one plate at a time. Maybe this is their strategy, but it did make the meal feel stretched out longer than expected.
As for the atmosphere, there’s nothing particularly special about the space. The interior has an open kitchen, visible from both inside and outside through glass partitions, but beyond that, it’s quite neutral. It’s neither cozy nor particularly stylish—just a simple, functional setup.
Overall, I appreciated the creativity in the food, but the small portions and slow service took away from the experience. If they improve these aspects, it could be an even better...
