A Culinary Trip to Thailand: My Detailed Review of Zap Thai Restaurant in Athens I recently had the immense pleasure of visiting Zap Thai Restaurant in Athens, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a warm and authentic atmosphere. The subtle Thai decor and pleasant lighting immediately created a cozy and inviting mood. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating from the start, which significantly contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I immediately felt comfortable and well taken care of. The Food – A Highlight in Itself! The menu at Zap Thai offers a fantastic and diverse selection of traditional Thai dishes, making it truly difficult to choose. Every category, from appetizers to curries and noodle dishes, sounded tempting. I personally opted for the Sweet and Sour Chicken as my main course. This dish was simply a dream: perfectly cooked, with tender chicken enveloped in a wonderfully balanced sweet and sour sauce. The crispy vegetables that accompanied the dish provided great texture and freshness. The portion was also very generous, ensuring I left feeling completely satisfied. My companion chose the Pad Krapao, another classic Thai dish. Here too, we were both absolutely convinced: the dish was perfectly seasoned, with the unmistakable aroma of Thai basil and a pleasant level of spice that enlivened the dish without overpowering it. Again, the ingredients were fresh and of excellent quality. Authenticity and Value for Money What particularly impressed me about Zap Thai Restaurant was the remarkable authenticity of the dishes. You could clearly taste that the food was prepared with passion, expertise, and genuine Thai spices. It felt as if I had been transported directly to Thailand for an evening. Despite the high quality and authentic preparation, the price-to-value ratio was excellent. The portions were ample, the ingredients fresh, and the taste was simply unbeatable, especially compared to other Thai restaurants. Conclusion In summary, I can unreservedly recommend Zap Thai Restaurant in Athens. It's the ideal place for anyone seeking a true, authentic, and delicious Thai culinary experience. The combination of excellent food, warm service, and a pleasant atmosphere makes every visit a special one. I'm already looking forward to returning soon and trying more dishes...
Read moreYesterday we were guests of Thai Zab restaurant in Athens. For dinner, we decided on two starters and two main dishes, along with a drink. Appetizers were ok, as was one main course, the second course was Pad Thai shrimp. When we started to eat Pad Thai, we noticed that everything was fried with some strange tomato sauce or ketchup, everything was one thick mass that was not edible. After our complaint, the waiter asked if we wanted something else, but we had no desire to try another option after this dish. After a short time, we asked for the bill, which also stated the dish that was not valid and that we left behind. The lady who brought the bill said that we had to pay because we ordered, even though the dish was not good. I requested contact with the owner, after some time I got him on the phone. I politely tried to explain to him that I had no intention of paying for a dish that was not worth it at all, but he didn't even try to let me explain and instead asked me where I was from and if I was from Israel. I have never experienced such behavior anywhere, and we travel quite often. The waiter, who spoke English very poorly and unreasonably, also constantly asked where I was from. When making a claim, they kept repeating that this was their first ever claim, only after looking at the reviews we were convinced that this was far from the truth. In our town, near our house, there is a Thai restaurant run by Mrs. Sara Lee from Thailand, where we often eat. Its flavors are clean and simple and do not resemble a thick toasted mass that is stuck to the plate. The owner of this restaurant does not respect the opinion of his guests at all, but chauvinistically insults the origin of the guest. No one goes to a restaurant to return food, but to have a good time and enjoy the food. In Thai Zab, this is not possible, but if you are a masochist, be sure that they will insult you if something does...

Great aesthetic, they did a great job with the decorations and the menu designs. The plates, cutlery and the attention to detail was nice.
Unfortunately the food was the let down, went searching for good Thai after a week plus of nothing but Greek food but did not find it here.
The pad see ew had no flavor. And by no flavor I am literally meaning no flavor. I think they stir fried the noodles and vegetables in nothing but oil. Not a hint of soy sauce or salt was in anything. I'm assuming they had simply forgot the sauce on the dish. My girlfriend did not want to say anything otherwise I would've brought it to the staffs attention.
I got the pad kee mao, it was missing young green peppercorns but had a fantastic sauce (and would've saved the rating of this review slightly) but like the pad see ew had zero charred wok flavor. I believe the Chinese call it 'wok hei' and is what gives these two dishes their iconic flavor. This is perhaps the only second thai restaurant I've been to in which the noodles had zero hot wok char flavor and is the only thing that makes these dishes stand out. For a chef who on the menu writes how he studied cooking in Thailand, I question how such a critical element to the cooking is missed.
The beef and vegetables in both dishes was of good quality and cooked well, sadly at the prices they charge there should be...
