Very bad service, which I thought was unthinkable in Greece! I came to Soboro for dinner with my family, and based on reviews here I expected good food and atmosphere. The place was pretty busy, though most people were only drinking while watching football, but it seems the people working there had a bad day, so the service was awful. First they let us sit for more than half an hour to even ask us what we wanted. We almost decided to leave before the waitress came. Then we waited for another 20-25 minutes to get our drinks, which actually came together with the food. The food was mediocre with the exception of sausages which I found to be very tasty. Grilled salmon was overcooked and at best mediocre, and the burger was okay, but the fries were really bad - soft and undercooked with no crunch. The same was with fries I got with my sausages. After we ate we didn't want to stay any longer so I asked for the bill, which normally comes with a small complementary dessert. However, after waiting for another 20-25 minutes I finally went to the bar and asked to settle the bill there. They quickly gave me the plate with the dessert and told me it's for us, but I politely declined. The bill was 80 euro for 4 plates (burger, 2 grilled salmons and sausages) and 4 drinks, which I think is a little bit expensive compared to the rest of Afytos, and especially for what you get. It was I was unhappy, but the waitress didn't apologize. This is very different to something we experienced just a day before, in a restaurant overlooking the sea, in the most touristy part of Afytos, where we had a pretty good service, but when the waiter got us our bill, he apologized because in his opinion the service was bad. Completely different attitude. In total we spent a bit less than 2 hours in Soboro, eating and drinking for 20 minutes and the rest of the time just waiting. I don't think people working there are bad or impolite. They are either understaffed or they prefer to have...
Read moreThis place is just as reviewed: the food is amazing (we ended up eating 3 times here), prices are affordable (cheaper than other places we tried) and the staff is extremely nice: they came by a few times to make sure everything's ok, to ask why one of the 13 of us didn't finish the meal, to make recommendations etc.
I was impressed that we were 13, came without a reservation during the evening and they still tried their best and found tables for all of us!
Personally I tried the Octopus Souvlaki, Vegetables Souvlaki, Gyros, Tzatziki, Fava Beans Humus - and they were all delicious! Some pictures attached.
They offer dessert "on the house", just like in many parts of Greece, which is very nice.
Definitely...
Read moreWe ate here in 2023, and than this spring we went to Afytos again, but the season was not started yet! So we had to give it another try, this august! It was open and we were quickly seated! We just love the owners for their original approach, the chef makes really amazing dishes, and the personnel was quick to serve us and very friendly! They even help me make a quick surprise and we all sang happy birthday to my partner! It is probably the best place to eat in Afytos! Read their story and you will fall inlove! Thank you for everything! P.S. we had chicken gyros, lamb chops, meat balls, feta cheese, and smoked fish! What i just wrote if not even close to what the food tastes like! Please,...
