My 2 friends and I were on a trip around Lefkada to chill and enjoy the beaches. Someone recommended us this restaurant to try really good greek lefakdian food. At this time of our trip, I was at the end of my budget and haven't been eating fish to save. When I entered the restaurant, I knew that I had to try something here. I got the fried zucchini and fava bean purée. The fava beans was food enough to enjoy, but the zucchinis were really delicious. They had fennel and the shaves of zucchinies in the mix that made it taste exactly like my mom used to make them. Real Mediterranean feel. The star was the grilled sea bass though (i think that was the fish). Nevertheless it was amazing. It comes with a peach purée for the sweet taste, red onion marinated with vinegar for the sour, the grilled fish well spiced and salted, fava beans paste topped with a seaweed salad for the mild bitter taste, the plate is slightly dripped with a fennel and herbs green sauce that should connect all the element. Everything was well cooked and spiced and delicious together. You have the flexibility to mix all together and dose them as you like. It was extremely well made and delicious to keep the story short. If you have to be pedantic and picky, it would have made it art if there was a conducting element that connected the pieces together. But that's being too picky, i just wanna go and try what other things they have now. Oh and that is all for a very very modest price comparable with other tavernas on the island. Give it a try and you...
Read moreWas looking forward to have my birthday dinner at the place together with my partner and our 3 kids as the place was recommended. Unfortunately, was rather unpleasantly surprised by the service. Upon entering none seemed interested in greeting us while clearly we had to wait to get seated. When eventually someone came to greet us we had to guess which tables are reserved, no clear marking, so when asking for a few tables we were rather rudely told they are taken. Eventually, having been seated we ordered to a waiter who was not really interested in recommendation for us. Main courses came max 10 min after salads, so rather awkward to place anything on the table. My daughter had two plates of pasta in front of her. Turned out portions were rather big which probably is a plus but would have expected from a decent waiter to mention we might be ordering on the high side. Eventually, decided to take some of the food with us not to be wasted, when asking for this we were handed over plastic containers to do it on our own! Might expect that from a gyros place on the corner, not from a place like this! Giving plus one star for the quality of the food, which was probably the only positive element of my birthday dinner. I am spending pretty much every summer holiday in Greece, having great experience and positive time. Have travelled the world over but felt this evening pretty bad. Hope it was a bad coincidence but sometimes wondering if these places don't get spoiled by the influx...
Read moreThis brilliant taverna is very modern with fabulous views inside and out. It was opposite our moorings where we picked up our charter cat. So we used it as our shore base (crew of 8).
The food is deliciously good (see pics) with a wide range all good value. Beer is ice cold! It was so good that we returned for our end of cruise celebration dinner there, despite the one problem.
The only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars is that the service was at times dreadful - waiting staff getting orders wrong, indifferent and sometimes just plain rude - they didn't seem to understand neither Greek nor English. You can draw your own conclusions but there was clearly something going on there!
It's location is also excellent for access to the town and the many shops and bars. There is a square in the centre that reminds me of Marbella in Spain. The Russian navy concert orchestra gave a marvellous performance in the square one night - the irony was that they didn't seem to realise that over half the audience were brits on tour!
