Vakis Grill — Restaurant in Meteora Municipality

BEST. LAMB. ON. EARTH!!!! This place is a hidden gem of Greece. We visited there after exploring the monasteries of Meteora. For the most part we researched every restaurant we visited during our two weeks in Greece but this place we stumbled upon randomly when we saw "lamb" on the window. We were waited on the owner, Vaknis, who was very kind and jovial. We had a lamb plate that was cooked to utter perfection. The fat was perfectly rendered so that it literally liquefied in your mouth. We tried lamb at many places during our travels, and eat it often at home as it's own of our family favorites. After a long day and visiting Metheora Monasteries, we were looking for a place to take a break and quickly eat something from Greek cuisine. We went to the city beneath the Monasteries and bumped into Vakis Grill. We had a mix of pork, chicken and lamb chops and all I can say is "WOW". You can't get better than this. Ordered lamb and pork kebabs. Very dry and overcooked. Quite disappointed. The lamb was mostly burnt fat with little meat. The pork was dried pieces of meat. The many other reviews would suggest that they can do better. I guess they were trying to sell off what they had left.
