Another place that is about to get really bad . Where should I start .I have been visiting this place since early 90's with mr sou a as owner and been regular customer since with mr yannis as owner and still going now with the new owner-chef???.. things I have noticed changed are for example: noodles with meat ,even though meat is reduced to minimum (you can't even see it the plate)the price still was increased twice.. char siou a plate that used to be one of the best at this place now instead of spring onion it has peppers probably due to cost ,always served salty and generally this recipe needs to be checked again!!!!!. on take away and delivery they never include chopsticks anymore and also they don't offer sweet and sour sauce with spring rolls and shrimps(also quite expensive dish- price increased- food reduced ). these were always served with some kind of sauce at least .. pecking duck was another favorite but quality of meat seems to be changed recently .
my over all experience is that they probably changed chef as this cuisine show signs of Thai cuisine comparing to mr Sou a Vietnamese influenced cuisine. they increased price -reduced cost altered recipes etc.
I hope things get back...
Read moreOn my last night I decided to not eat at the hotel as I’d been intrigued by the menu at Jia having some interesting choices.
I was quite early for Greek dinner so I had the whole place to myself. The decor is typically Eastern but with a Japanese twist (for a restaurant that sells itself as a Chinese.
The welcome was OK but service was obviously speedy. I went for the Chicken and Corn soup which was massive. Double the usually UK portion I’d expect.
I then went for the Panco chicken, expecting it to be a dry dish (aka Salt and Pepper Chicken) but it was very much like Kun Po chicken without the nuts. Rice is quite expensive as a side but was cooked well and could be eaten with chopsticks.
As someone who lives in the UK, it’s usually not a good experience eating Oriental food on holiday. This was the first place where I can say that wasn’t the case. It was really...
Read moreTerrible service from the owner when food was rubbery and bland. We did not touch the food and returned it immediately. His advice was that it was up to the customer to like the food or not to like the food once food was ordered and we had to pay for the uneaten food. We have travelled all over the world and I’ve never heard of such a thing. He was rude in his approach and could have handled the situation better. Waitress was lovely though but food can be cooked better because it most definitely was not Chinese food. Also menu online says they sell sushi but waitress advised it’s not something they do. To the owner who advised that no one ever told him that his food wasn’t good but there’s bad reviews all...
