If you're thinking of where to eat while in Crete... THIS IS THE PLACE. It's in a beautiful location, with a view of Spinalonga.
We had dinner in the evening around 7:30. The view of the island with the sunset was gorgeous.
Now onto the food. BEST WE HAVE HAD!
I definitely filled up on the starters too much. The caprese salad was amazing, very tasty! (We shared an assortment of starters) The greek salad...oh my. The feta was so creamy. The tempura shrimp was amazing. We also had stuffed zucchini, we fought over the last one...!
My little one, isn't the best eater. He polished off a plate of chips. And they were delicious! (He let me pinch a few!) I'm hoping the full stomach means he will sleep well tonight!
For main I had seafood pasta. Absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish it though unfortunately! The man looking after us did mention that he could box it up for me but unfortunately last night for us and no where to store it!
My other two boys also had chocolate pie and crêpes for dessert. My 10 year old said "top starts rating!"
Sad that we only found this place on the last day. We would of come here again and again! Definitely the best place we have had dinner. We were well looked after. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly.
Definitely come here as soon as you can. You will not regret it!!
(In other news my 13 year old things the toilets were...
Read moreI have just realised that we have been going to Porta.Restobar since Roberto and Aris first opened it. First off Roberto and Aris are legends, having first met them at the Royal Marmin Bay Hotel, just down the road in Elounda they are our first destination once we arrive in Elounda/Plaka, we live them dearly. My wife and I have travelled extensively but we found the service and hospitality at the Royal Marmin to be exceptional and Roberto and Aris became like family. When we heard that they had left the hotel, we were initially distraught, so imagine our delight to hear they had forged out on their own by opening a bar in Plaka. Every year we live seeing what new innovation in hospitality they have come up with, they never disappoint. Whilst our heart belongs to the Marmin as a hotel, Porta is always our first stop as a bar in the area. We cannot recommend Porta highly enough, see you all there...
Read moreMy husband and I had lunch here yesterday on my birthday. The staff was so kind and friendly and made it a really enjoyable afternoon for us! And holy cow the FOOD! They started us off with an olive tapenade and whipped feta with peppers. They were incredible! Then we had fried zucchini and calamari- both were phenomenal- the calamari was so fresh and the zucchini was so lightly breaded but perfectly crisp. I had it with a side of tzaziki (highly recommend). As an entree, we split the carbonara and it was rich and decadent.
It's probably my most notable dining experience in Greece so far and I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! My husband told them it was my birthday and they gave us cake and sang to me in Greek and it was both embarrassing and very...
