TOURISTS & HANDICAPPED BEWARE: rude experience consistent with other low reviews…Rude/frightening owner who essentially ran my husband and I out of his waterfront cafe for my broken foot being up on an outdoor chair. 😟 (We travel internationally 3-months a year, never had a problem. I currently have a broken foot and sprained ankle and am on crutches. I hobbled to his outdoor spot on the water for a glass of wine. (Aside from us, a family was seated with kids in swim suits and their feet up on chairs overlooking the water about 100ft away. And the owners dog laid on ground behind us. We ordered a carafe of wine, I placed my crutches on a chair and elevated my foot on the chair (ankle and heel resting in seat with bottom of foot NOT touching the chair). About 15-20 min later, the owner (who had not been our server or interacted with us yet) ran outside toward me and started shouting and yelling at me while flailing his arms (e.g., “have respect! Get your foot down!” Etc etc) In shock, I immediately put my foot down and replied, “I’m sorry, my foot is broken and is hurting. I didn’t know it would be a problem.” The owner began to argue with me calling me disrespectful for placing my foot somewhere another person might sit later. I apologized again and showed him the chair was clean and assured him I would keep my foot down. He continued to yell at me and then went inside while yelling. At this point we no longer felt welcome and felt need to pay and leave immediately. He continued to argue with me as I paid. I meant no disrespect at all, and would have appreciated a polite and calm interaction such as him saying, “ma’am, I apologize, but I must ask you to put your foot down.” We travel often and never wish to disrespect anyone who serves us food and drink…I just wish we had the opportunity for a polite encounter there. I read other reviews and it appears this owner is known for running customers off. It’s unfortunate in such a small town and small business off the beaten path, when visitors are eager to enjoy and tip well, that he has so much hate so fast for his customers. I had planned to give a 100% tip, which is what we LOVE to do as gratitude. (I had put my clean towel down under it, no one was anywhere near us, we were outside, and set up was a beach cafe vibe. We had not been to the beach, no swim suits, no sand, no water..my “towel” was a clean washcloth I carry for this purpose.” IT WAS SHOCKING and uncalled for…so sad for his business 😞 read other “low reviews” and you will see a consistent pattern. Respect is mutual. The owner seems to have a gripe about “respect” and is taking it out on his paying customers.

We’ve been to Erato for the first time in 2007 when it used to be on the opposite side of Katapola. This is an Italian restaurant, owned by an Italian couple. The food is absolutely DELICIOUS! Pizzas, pastas.. everything! I definitely recommend this restaurant should you stay in Amorgos! Incroyable restaurant Italien à Amorgos, les restaurateurs italiens sont adorables, les plats sont frais et délicieux. Très abordable également!

If I could give this place a less than one star review, I would do it.

The owner and the waiter (the owner's son) were extremely rude. My friend and I had placed our water bottle on the table (no other restaurant ever had a problem with that) when all of a sudden, the owner started yelling at us that we are disrespectful because we have placed our water bottle on the table and he demanded very rudely to take it off the table. Then my friend said to the owner that "that's a strange request" and "if it's okay to place it on the floor". But the owner just continued yelling at us, the waiter joined shortly after. The thing is that if he had asked us calmly to take it off the table, we would have respected his request no problem. But it is an awful behaviour and really disrespectful towards the customer to yell at them and talk rudely for such a simple thing. The whole situation left me very distressed and in the verge of tears.

All in all, I would never recommend that place to no one who does not want his mood to be spoiled during their vacation. Just go to any...

I am deeply disappointed by the experience I had at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the owner refused to seat us without any valid reason. We were greeted in an extremely unpleasant manner, and the owner spoke to us very rudely, almost as if our presence was a bother. The situation worsened when he outright insulted us. Such behavior is unacceptable and reflects a total lack of professionalism and respect for customers. I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant if you wish to have a...
