Great location quite literally right on the beach. There were tables available inside and about 14 or 15 tables actually on the beach so we elected to sit on the beach.

It was quite busy despite being the middle of September and yet there was only 1 waiter who was managing very well with the 15 or 16 tables that he was serving.

We were provided with a four page menu which had our table number written on it and then it was a case of selecting what you wanted, the quantity etc and then the waiter collected it on passing. All done seamlessly and quickly, or at least as quickly as you do or don't want whilst on holiday.

It was busy and yet the first thing the waiter did was to apologise for the wait, yet we'd barely waited, but nevertheless the apology was heartfelt and appreciated.

We didn't wait any longer than we had at any other of the cafes and restaurants that we'd eaten at on the island. The food arrived promptly, was cooked well and though I think that they may have forgotten my pork steak it still arrived shortly after the rest of our mains.

It was a dry, warm and still evening, ideal time to sit on the beach and to enjoy our meal. We liked Akporaai and were impressed by the service. The restaurant is as pretty on the inside as it is on the outside, with white washed walls and light blue borders with a view and location that is pretty darn good.

Not quite a five but certainly a good 4.5. Let's put that in to context, another meal that cost less than €45. Still good value for money.

Maybe it's time Google introduced a scale of 1 to 10, that way it would be easier to differentiate between good, really good and great...

We had a wonderful meal with prices that were much less than the mainland. The menu had a great range of salad, pastas, fresh fish, and other seafood options. We had the grilled octopus and the grilled prawns, both were cooked to perfection, and a salad that had an ingredient in the dressing that I didn’t like was tailored to our preference with no fuss. The service by the single waiter was friendly and helpful, and the team seemed to truly want to make our meal as pleasant as possible. We visited several times during our stay in the island, and the food was consistently great, the octopus, the sardines, the fresh grilled fish, and the best lobster pasta. And the most hospitable and friendly service. Bonus: Great windbreak location, when it's windy in the Chora.

Our only regret was we didn't have enough time to explore the entire menu. So, we'll continue...
