We started with a beetroot salad, which was pleasant, though nothing particularly unique. For the main course, we had lobster and scorpionfish. The lobster was served with petoura pasta, but we also found a few linguine noodles mixed in. I hope this was due to the kitchen preparing both the lobster and the shrimp pasta (which is also on the menu) in the same way — and not due to leftover ingredients being reused. The scorpionfish with orzo, unfortunately, was the biggest disappointment. Not only did the fish fillet contain several bones, but there were also fish scales — and not just one or two. There were many, and they were scattered throughout the risotto. This is unacceptable, especially at these price levels. We found around four or five bones, and the presence of scales mixed in the dish made the experience quite unpleasant. We informed the staff (not to get a discount — we didn’t receive one — but in the hope that they’ll take it seriously and improve). On a positive note, the service was very friendly and professional, and the staff were not at fault. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant itself is well maintained. However, in our opinion, there are other places on the island that offer a better view — though of course this also depends on your table and...
Read moreI was very skeptical before going there due to all the comments here but yeah apparently I should always trust the reviews.
On the bright side, yes the view of the castle is there but nothing super special.
During our dinner there, we felt nervous almost the whole time since all the waiters were running around without an actual direction. They wanted to do something but they didn’t know exactly what. Dishes arrived on our table without cutlery or napkins.
The food is fine and of course you pay a price premium for the location but nothing super special.
There was a guy, supposed to explain you the available catch of the day but he was looking almost bored and wanting to sell you the most expensive ones only. At some point he was giving shouting to the chef on how to grill the fish with his pants revealing his ass (did I also pay for this?). Only at the end of our dinner we realised that this guy was the owner or co owner.
From the kitchen, which is almost an open one, you could listen to house music and people cheering about the goals their team scored in the Europa league qualifiers.
This was our last night on the island ending with a very weird gastronomical feeling. In general food in Astypalaia was tasty but Akti didn’t meet the level of the rest...
Read moreThe place is very beautiful, but unfortunately we had one of the worst service ever and the food wasn't good at all. We had to call 3 times to order, they forgot our main dishes, it can happen but the waiter kept coming to take away our bread, our water, then he came to bring us dessert we didn't order before the main dishes. We waited 40 minutes because they forgot. The food honestly is not worth even remotely to go back. The greek salad doesn't even have feta cheese but a little cream dressing that replaces feta, and lots of bread, i guess,to replace vegetables. We took squid ink linguine, this was the biggest disappointment. The first time was so salty that we asked them to take it back. They agreed it and apologised and when they brought the linguine back, in fact, was a black pasta, the one that you buy in supermarket, no ink whatsoever, but with so much spring onion and just a bit of calamari. After eating , i had the impression to have eaten only spring onion. We order a risotto which was good to be fair. They made us pay half of the bill knowing that we weren't happy. In the island you better off going to Gerani in Livadia...
