Akrogiali Family Taverna Agios Gordios — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

Highly overrated. We are waiting more than 30 mins to have a salad and pork souvlaki. DO NOT GO THERE. All the other comments are made by friends of the owner or by people with very low expectations. After 40 mins we got the food. After i asked for the check, the owner told me i personally insulted him for writing this review here, because there were other people before me, waiting to be served. There were indeed 2 tables before me, but if i had arrived 5th, perhaps then I would be waiting not 40 mins, but hours. I have never ever been to any restaurant, where the owner tells customers they insult him. Instead of having the customers waiting so long, the owner could give a small complimentary ready or at least some bread and water and inform them that they will be waiting some more time to get the food. But who am i to advise an owner having a restaurant open since 1960. Great that he has thousands of friends and my review is not going to lower down the overall score...

I am extremely disappointed with the service at this beachside restaurant. After traveling an hour across Corfu, we—myself (7 months pregnant), my partner, and his parents—were told there was no space for us because of reservations. This would have been understandable, except for one glaring issue: there is no website or system in place for booking reservations. Yet, tables were marked “reserved,” and when we enquired how that was possible, we were told people had walked by and booked a few days ago.

So, if you don’t happen to stroll by on the right day, you’re essentially out of luck? How is that fair to anyone who travels specifically to dine there? It’s an absurd way to run a restaurant, leaving those of us who’ve come from afar completely out in the cold. We came expecting a nice meal and left with nothing but disappointment. Truly abysmal service—this restaurant’s reservation “system” is an absolute joke.
