First two times ordered Chicken club sandwich and on both occasions it was fine. It was fresh food, including the fries, which are very good. On one of the occasions was served a very nice Tiramisu, done with a nice pistacchio base under the chocolate top.
Went back the third time and ordered a Chicken club for dining partner and the Chicken Burger for myself; mainly because the chicken club was nice previously.
The Chicken club that arrived was the usual good standard with quality pieces of chicken as per usual the main ingredient.
The Chicken burger served up was appalling and was not on any level what could be described as chicken. I took one bite and from its taste and texture knew straight away this is not chicken fillet It was not white in appearance as cooked chicken always is, but a sludgy grey colour. From its appearance I thought it was a beefburger as it had a brownish beefburger look about it on the outside. I would have been prepared to eat a beefburger but it didn't taste like beef either.
Called the waiter over and explained this was not the chicken burger and could it be replaced. He took it back to the kitchen and then came back five minutes later, with the burger and fries five minutes colder, and said the chef said it was a chicken burger. I said it doesn't taste like chicken and and the waiter replied "it's mashed chicken". I was handed it back.
I found it hard to believe what I was told as have never had previously or even heard of mashed chicken. What is going on when the club sandwich is chicken but there is no identifiable chicken taste in the "chicken burger"?
So then my dining partner tasted it and found it horrible and said it had nothing to do with chicken, and actually had no taste of anything. Partner said it didn't taste of chicken or beef or even a vegan burger. We debated for a while as to what the hell this could be.
Let's be clear here; a Chicken burger means a piece of Chicken fillet. It has nothing else in the meat and if it is done differently as "mashed" chicken you expect to see it on the menu as "mashed chicken" and there should be some taste resembling chicken. Anyway if I saw a Chicken burger as being made from "mashed chicken" I certainly wouldn't order it.
Also note, factually, the Anemomylos menu describes its mashed non-entity as follows: "Chicken Burger: chicken burger, lettuce tomato, cheddar, bacon, caramelised onion, mayo sauce, served with French fries."
The upshot was I ate the thing and paid the bill, on the basis I wouldn't be going back and was done with the place.
After we finished, I was asked how I enjoyed the food and I said I didn't as I didn't consider it a Chicken burger. I was then presented with the full bill to pay the bill after telling them I didn't like it. As the final insult I was asked if I would like to pay a tip. I refused.
There's plenty of other places to eat in Corfu,...
Read moreI always wanted to try this place as it has a very nice location and generally seems nice. However it was not a good experience. I only wanted to eat something light, so I ordered bruschetta. Almost tasteless and one of the smallest things I ever saw in a restaurant, especially for 9 euros it was ridiculous. Waste of money and far from how the bruschetta should be like. The service was kind of a retro vibe and without much interest too. To top my overall experience, the ladies bathroom was extremely dirty, they had two or three toilets there and not even one was clean. I understand that many people are very dirty and they do horrible things in public bathrooms, but this can't happen in any good restaurant to let toilets be like that. To sum up, big disappointment, this place truly has a potential and could be very good, the seaside location is nice, but I would...
Read moreThis was our daily go to spot across our month in Corfu. A wonderful seaside location with the BEST staff. Special thanks to Yanni, Tasos and Costos, who were so wonderful in looking after us. A 5Euro pp spend on beverage was super affordable to secure a sun lounge. We would come down after our working day swim and lounge for a bit and then continue work at a table with a wonderful sea and windmill view. It was idyllic. Nothing better than a sea dip and a refreshing sorbet or drink to beak up the working day! Food and cocktails/wines were great too! Delicious vegan lunch and dinner options of mushroom risotto, mushroom burger and sweet potato, which were well priced. How lucky are we to have enjoyed this as our local haunt...
