If you're a fan of finger-licking good American barbecue, then look no further than the delightful experience awaiting you at Barbacoa. This cozy restaurant has become a beloved weekly tradition for my family, and there's no doubt in our minds why. With their mouthwatering pulled pork, delectable hamburgers, and a brownie to die for, it's no wonder that our taste buds are constantly tantalized and our bellies satisfied.
Let's start with the star of the show - the pulled pork. My son has developed an unwavering love for it, and we can see why. Each succulent bite of the tender, slow-cooked pork is a burst of smoky flavor. It's perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, making it practically melt in your mouth. The chef Nikos definitely know his way around a barbecue pit, and his pulled pork is a testament to his expertise.
Moving on to the hamburgers, they are a true delight for burger enthusiasts. These hefty, juicy patties are crafted with care, using quality ingredients that truly shine through with every bite. Whether you opt for a classic cheeseburger or venture into their specialty creations, you'll find yourself marveling at the balance of flavors and the sheer juiciness of each patty. Accompanied by the freshest toppings and a soft, toasted bun, these burgers are an absolute delight.
Now, let's talk about the brownie, the ultimate sweet finale to any meal at Barbacoa. This dessert is a true masterpiece. Picture a warm, fudgy brownie, decadently rich and oozing with chocolate goodness. Each bite is pure indulgence, heightened by the addition of a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. It's the kind of dessert that will make your taste buds dance and leave you longing for more, even though you're already completely satisfied.
Beyond the food itself, the ambiance at Barbacoa adds to the overall experience. The restaurant exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with rustic decor and friendly staff that make you feel right at home. The aroma of barbecue wafts through the air, creating an irresistible sensory experience that builds anticipation for the culinary delights to come.
Lastly, it's worth mentioning the exceptional service. The staff members are attentive, knowledgeable, and always eager to assist with recommendations or special requests. They genuinely care about your dining experience and go the extra mile to ensure your visit is memorable.
In conclusion, Barbacoa is a barbecue lover's dream come true. With their heavenly pulled pork, mouthwatering hamburgers, and a brownie that will make your heart skip a beat, this restaurant has won our hearts and taste buds. If you're seeking an authentic American barbecue experience, coupled with warm hospitality, then be sure to make Barbacoa your go-to destination. You won't be...

After countless visits, we’re finally writing this review — because Barbacoa deserves a big round of applause! As expats living on the island, we’ve seen many places come and go, but this one truly stands out. Congratulations to the owners for creating something so unique — there’s really nothing else like it here!
Barbacoa is where sizzling smoked meats meet spicy sauces and bachata, kizomba, and Latin rhythms. It’s got that perfect mix of delicious food and a lively atmosphere that lights up the evenings and makes Sunday afternoons something to look forward to. Just a heads-up: it gets busy — reservations are essential!
We prefer going during the quieter hours (a little island secret!) — just our personal vibe. We’ve got our expat habits, and long waits for menus, drinks or the bill can test our patience. During peak times, the service can be a bit slow — but hey, if you’re coming for the buzz and the full Barbacoa experience, just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Speaking of drinks — do not miss the Mamos draft beer! We absolutely love it. It’s got that perfect refreshing taste, and yet for some reason it’s not being shouted from the rooftops for tourists — what a missed opportunity! Also, the red house wine? One of the best on the island. Consistently great, year after year.
We’ve loved watching Barbacoa grow and glow over time. Every season it gets a little better, and this year the new outdoor terrace is looking fantastic!
Bravo, Barbacoa team — keep the...

We ordered the brisket, which is supposed to be smoked for 18 hours: felt like it just came out of the fridge. The nachos were totally soaked, full of cheese and fat, we couldn't not eat them. The 2nd plate was a joke.
The place is badly architected: we could see all the way through the toilets from our table. Lighting too strong, decoration cheap, an architect's nightmare. This is certainly not an american bbq restaurant, far from it.
I give it an extra star because I felt that someone really tried to make everything work, but everything is poorly implemented, and in the end the food was really bad.
replying below to owner's reply === Thanks for taking the time to reply to my review. Let me clarify a few things: re/"fridge": this was a reference to the quality (flavor, softness), not the temperature re/"nachos": I have lived in NJ for years, allow me an opinion re/"why replied 'all ok' when leaving": didn't want to bring it up, but here it is: when we arrived we noticed that the table was dirty and asked politely the waitress to clean it, yet she seemed quite irritated by our request; given her reaction we would certainly not argue about our experience in the end, would you? This is why we preferred to post it in writing here.
Hopefully you will use this review to...
