I had high expectations based on the Google reviews. We expected explosion of local tastes, but received barely flavored and scarcely cooked food.
Order: Saganaki, shrimp skewers, squid
Complimentary dish from the restaurant: Warm bread with taramosalata and kalamata olives set the tone for what I expected to be a 5-star experience. After trying the complimentary dish, I was eager to give the restaurant top marks.
“Just cooked” calamari: The calamari arrived, but unfortunately, the best way to describe its taste is that it was simply "cooked." It didn’t feel like restaurant-quality food. Just plain seafood with no salt, pepper, or spices. The breading was uneven, with some pieces completely lacking it, which added to my disappointment.
Shrimp skewers: The shrimp were served with a nice selection of sides: grilled smashed potatoes, paprika, spinach, broccoli, onion, cherry tomatoes, and purée. While the sides were appealing, the shrimp themselves were undercooked. Out of seven shrimp, only one was edible. Both my partner and I tried two shripms, but they were so undercooked we had to spit them out. This took the overall impression from “just cooked” to “cooked if you’re lucky.”
Saganaki: To be fair, the saganaki was good.
Service: I should mention that the waiter (or possibly the owner) did offer to make another portion of shrimp skewers, but this came after: I complained about the shrimp being undercooked. Prior to that there was no questions why we are asking for a bill while half the dish was left on the plate (with the other half in napkins). He suggested that I should have said something earlier, and they would have grilled or baked them. (This was after we had peeled them to find the ones that were actually cooked.) Finally, he proposed making us another portion, but after the unpleasant experience with raw shrimp, more seafood wasn’t exactly appealing. In summary: While the complimentary dish was a nice touch, it couldn’t make up for the plain calamari and undercooked shrimp skewers, especially at a...
Read moreAs a beautiful white sail in the green sea of Kerkira's landscape, we spotted 'Flavor' on our way to Angelokastro. It's been a hot day in July, and when we finally got inside the restaurant on our way back, my mom granny and i were greeted with 3 glasses of fresh icy water and the most hospitable person who runs the place. It's not very easy to find food as a vegetarian in Greece, but Flavour's menu was full of exciting options, so we end up ordering Seasonal Salad, Feta with Vegetables (baked in the oven), Tomato Soup with Ricotta and Mushrooms Ravioli, and the most exotic for my taste -- Manitaria Pleurotus (which was a kind of mushroom, assumably fried in a pan). I've never liked mushrooms in my life and this was the first time i enjoyed them! Another gastronomic discovery of ours happened thanks to the starters that the owner generously offered us as a gift before our main course. On one of the pictures you can see a small brusquetti with sliced tomatoes red onions and Olive Paste. This paste was a delight indeed. Besides the impressive cuisine and atmosphere, the person, who was serving our table gave us a small talk which made us all feel very welcome at the restaurant. All in all, our experience at 'Flavor' has been fantastic and i highly recommend you to come by this place if you happen...
Read moreVery good food! Very large servings as well! I had chicken souvlaki with colorful peppers and onions, my wife had tortellini with spinach. We waited for a meal a bit longer than usual, but seems it's normal for Flavour, saw other people said that as well. Souvlaki was excellent, great taste and done just right to be juicy. Prepared on a real barbecue, not electric grill. Quite often i need something as second meal to be full, this portion was just enough :-) Tortellini is not my type of food so cannot say nothing from my perspective. Wife says it was good as well. We got free apetizers (really free, not a trap), greek olive spreads and sour cream with onions, and toasted bread with garlic/chopped tomatoes. Prices of meal are around one euro higher than other places we've been but food quality is high indeed. Would recommend definitely and would go to...
