It is hands down the best Taverna in Paleokastritsa. It is a family ran business and the staff is a lovely family who know how to impress their customers with not only the amazing delicacies they served, but the humble approach and their lovely nature. I would give 100 starts if I could. The atmosphere is always cosy and welcoming. The food was Greek style top notch. What I loved the most was that the waiters(family) were soo kind and sweet, you instantly felt you belong there. They have vast selection of food including finger-licking vegetarian food that made me Wow every 10 seconds and I am not even vegetarian. You can basically try anything and you'll be astonished. The quantity of the food is also way beyond my comprehension. We had to feed the cats with the left-overs. You will defo leave with full stomach no matter what you order. Feel free to check the photos and are speaking for themselves. P.S they offered sweets and fruits from the house which made me feel soo appreciated as a customer. Try the wine as well as you'll love it soo much. P.S.S - The Gemista and Kalamari were incredible choices, but try anything and I can assure you never had anything like that before...
Read moreOrdered the Greek salad, lamb rack (€35) and the lamb spit (€25). The Greek salad was as expected but can’t say the same for the 2 lamb dishes.
My lamb rack had drizzle of bbq sauce all over and a sweet potato dip on the side which was odd but didn’t question it and wanted to give it a chance, unfortunately the lamb didn’t live up to the expectations. It felt like the food was sitting out and not hot at all. The BBQ sauce tasted like a €1 off the shelf condiment and shouldn’t be paired with a €35 dish. The sweet potato dip pairing was ok but with the addition of the BBQ sauce it didn’t make sense.
The lamb spit lacked taste, it was dry and the same issue as the rack, the temperature wasn’t right and you can see the fat solid from the meat instead of dripping off the meat. We couldn’t finish our dishes and left unsatisfied.
The service wasn’t there, a smile and a bit of enthusiasm would added a star, possibly 2 on this review but also wasn’t the case.
I don’t usually write reviews but unfortunately we wasn’t sold on this “meat specialist” taverna. Had high hopes for the...
Read moreThe place looks nice, everything on the spit (barbecue) looked good, prices pretty expensive; which is never an issue for me when food quality is good.
My issue was this: I asked the waiter if I could order a dish that came off the fire; meaning it was cut from the fire onto my plate. In Greece that is never a problem in many other restaurants, with the same set up. By doing this I am guaranteed that my food is fresh and has not been sitting in the kitchen for hours. Otherwise it has been waiting to be microwaved or reheated before making its way to my table, which is not ok.
Asked this, the waiter responded with an extremely rude attitude, and said that this was not possible as the dishes come with potatoes and salad and other condiments. In a nutshell, this tells me that the meat they serve is not necessarily fresh from the fire and could’ve been sitting in the kitchen for days. Anyways, what annoyed me most was his tone and attitude so I am giving one start only and we left the restaurant without...
