Gondola Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

Update: I’ll keep my original 5 star review below, but Iv downgraded to a 1 star… myself and my partner returned to the restaurant for a second time. The waiter was the only BAD/RUDE encounter Iv had in corfu!! We chose to return primarily because it was the best meal/service of our stay and was planning to spend 100 euro on a full meal here, From the start of asking for a table we got condescending comments about arriving too late for dinner as we asked if we could sit near the edge on a empty table we pointed out!! We were seated and chose just to have an appetiser due to the attitude and not wishing to spend anymore money here. I honestly wish I got up and left!! The waiter writes our order making comments of “is that it?” He went to a colleague and obviously talking bad of us, What followed was pointing and staring with aggressive hand gestures which I did not entertain or care for. Drinks were brought out a coke and a glass of wine, Aggressively put our drinks down.. bumped off our table spilling a lot of my wine without apologising or acknowledging what he done and didn’t take the bottle cap off the Coca-Cola and left my partner waiting for another 10 minutes before we asked and got a “Yes lady, sorry lady, yes lady” in a rude rude tone I’m very sorry but excuse me have some manners!? Not every tourist is a money sign!! The cherry on top was two other gentleman sit down next to us and order half the value we spent and were treated like high status royalty. The food which was a baked feta and garlic bread was undercooked and honestly the worst food i was served since arriving nothing like what we had in our first meal here.. When paying I requested to pay with card and got a “yes, will need to wait” 20 minutes? Seriously annoyed at your service and regret leaving such a nice review and spending 90 euro plus a very good tip tip the first night we visited. Seriously please AVOID and spend your hard earn money elsewhere!! 0/10.

Original review (AVOID!!!) Absolutely amazing service and food at the Gondola restaurant. The waiter was very helpful recommending Greek/corfu dishes to try and they did not disappoint, The Pastitsada with veal was beautiful and will have a long lasting memory of my visit to corfu! There house wine is well...

This establishment has been here for a long time and I didn't really want to post this review. For a place advertising itself as a pizzeria, the "Gondola" pizza was a slap to the face. I am nearly certain the pizza they serve is frozen. The dough is crunchy and oily and its' shape along with the cheese formation is very reminiscent of most frozen pizza brands. On the menu the ingredients of the main three pizzas, Gondola, Capricciosa and Hawaiian are all the same other than having either olives, pepperoni or pineapple respectively, which are most likely added onto the frozen pizzas before being put in the oven. There was even an olive pit stuck under one slice. They sell these pizzas for 13 euro, but you can probably buy them from half the price at any supermarket frozen food section.

If the pizzas aren't really frozen, then they should really make some big changes in the cooking staff and management. It also seems to follow the tourist trap tactics with overpriced Greek and local options. Half a liter of corfiot beer is 7 euro and other refreshments are also expensive (2 carbonated 0.33 litre waters for 6.80 and a small bottle of ginger beer for 4.5 euro if my memory serves me right). You also have to pay for water and they don't bring you any from the start.

Honestly, the serving/waiting staff are friendly and hospitable, and I've had pleasant conversations with them in the past. I really have no problem with anyone other than the management and cooking staff.

Outside the atmosphere and environment is very nice especially in the evening, but if you are just looking for good quality pizza (or other food) sit...

Please DO NOT spend your money on food in this restaurant!!!!

We ordered for our toddler “Penne with salmon”(as was written in the menu) thinking that if it’s not specified “smoked salmon pasta” we will get cooked salmon.

The pasta was soaked in oil with fried smoked salmon. Of course that because the kid can’t eat that,I asked the waitress to put it for take away thinking that i’ll take off the salmon and put some other sauce at home since I have to pay 12€ for them.

We also ordered lamb in lemon sauce and the potatoes came with hair IN it. Attention!Not ON it.IN IT!! photo

The waitress(Marina/Eleni) came and ask about the problems,she start to scold us telling us:

“If you had a problem with the pasta why you wanted to take away?” “No one ever told us that they have a problem with smoked salmon in pasta” “It goes without saying that the salmon is smoked. We shouldn't have specified that on the menu.”

“Of course it’s hair on the potatoes!It’s from the lamb”

I have never in my life been so scolded by a waitress anywhere in this world, especially over my own money.

Unfortunatly we didn’t red the reviews before.Otherwise I wouldn't have stepped foot...
