We were recommended Dolphin restaurant by Maria, who runs Villa Athina - where we stayed for three nights - which is a villa next to Dolphin restaurant on Paleokastritsa. We reserved a table with nice views in the afternoon- for later that evening. Good thing we did as the place was pretty full the night. Our experience however was more than disappointing. My wife’s moussaka was mushy, not flavoursome, blend, zero crunch, and - even at the small portion it was - too awful to finish. My gyros had similar problems. Stringy, dry, sinewy meat - that I had to spit out and leave on the plate. The tomatoes and chips were good, but the hero of the meal - the pork meat - was an utter disgrace. The waiter asked us how we experienced the evening and we told him about - and showed him - our half eaten plates. He was very sorry and disappeared. When we later on asked for the bill, zero recognition on our bad experience, zero apologies from a bit more senior person ( owner ( I presume it was the owner) seemed to be little interested.). It’s a dissonant in our two week Corfu trip. We had eaten fantastic meals ( yes also juicy, succulent, tasty and tender - no sinews- gyros elsewhere on the island, had wonderful moussaka somewhere else - so there is no excuse in my opinion). It is always possible to have a day off, but at least acknowledge it and do something about it. If you take your reputation and future serious. But this place I’m afraid is too spoiled with masses of hungry people. Only after our meal I decided to read more reviews and I should have known better. There seems to be no pride in the place. The one light armature displays cool white light, the next one has a warm white led bulb. Lots of debris and smelly rubbish on the grounds next to the entrance stairs… clearly not new rubbish as the decomposition was pretty obvious. Owners too lazy (?) to clean up??? I’m just guessing but there’s just too many hospitality wrongs that made me vow I would never...
Read moreI went to this restaurant twice in the same day for lunch and dinner, at lunch I had good appetizers and swordfish squid, super ok, fresh squid on the grill, frozen swordfish, but that's what I knew... the problem appeared in the evening and that's why I'm writing a comment also appetizers, moussaka wine and seafood pasta. It all started with pasta, all of us who travel know what fresh or reheated pasta means, kept warm or in the microwave, I told the waiter that the pasta was very dry and that he would make me another one!!! At that moment I said that I don't need it others for the simple reason that if I had fresh pasta, they would serve it to me at the right time....here the boss intervened and told me that he offended me and that it doesn't matter if I eat it or not, that we will pay for it anyway at least don't say you don't like it, we'll bring you something else, nothing. Anyway, when I paid cash at lunch, he was very upset in the evening that I asked with a card. Enjoy to everyone and I hope you don't have the same troubles as us!!!The one star is...
Read moreWe dined at this restaurant three times because we enjoyed the view, the food was good, and the three waiters who served us were always very polite. We returned to this restaurant a fourth time, but this time, we were not treated with respect as customers. We arrived at 9:15 PM and stood for about 45 minutes waiting for a table. The waiters and one of the owners were aware of this. Two other couples were in the same situation. At 10 PM, one of the waiters informed us that we couldn't be served because the kitchen was closing. This was unacceptable! It's true that the waiters need to rest, and it's true that there's written notice that the kitchen closes at 10 PM. But it's not right to see people standing around waiting and only inform them of this at the end. They could have said from the outset that they wouldn't be able to serve. This is...
