Table for 2...?

We were downprioritized the moment we came inside as we were 2 people. They said to hold on a sec cause they saw a 4 person group coming in behind us and showed them to a table before us (no they did not have a reservation either).

Finallt at the table after getting the menus we quickly decided what to order and closed them waiting for a server to come and take our order.

One waiter made eyecontact with us as he stood in front of us and said hello, we said hello back and was about to announce our order but he left us to service someone calling him from the table right behind us, asking for their bill.

He looked at us as he went to them and again after he gave the other table their bill but he did not come back to ask us for our order.

Waiter number two serviced 2 tables right in front of us and talked for a while with one of them. Then she looked straight at us and started moving our way. We thought that finally someone would come take our order! But alas she did not. She walked in a half-circle around our table avoiding to look at us while cleaning the table behind us.

We gave it one last shot, thinking this waiter just wanted to clean first then come take our order but we then saw her going to a different table in the other end of the restaurant to serve people who came in after us.

We sat at the table for 20-25 minutes after finding out what we wanted to eat, getting more and more frustrated waiting for a waiter to come take our order before we left hungry as no one ever came. As we walked out past two of them talking to eachother by the kitchen they did not even try to talk to us(as in "hey why are you leaving so soon", "have a nice evening" or anything at else).

We do not recommend this place as the service is nonexistent if you're two people. If you're a group of 4 or more then perhaps you will get...

Truly the gold standard both regarding both food and service. Easily the best restaurant in Platanias and Agia Maria area, and in my opinion worth the trip from Chania. However you should be prepared to pay for the premium experience. That being said, the price is in my experience worth it.

The place is clean, and has a contemporary style. It sits on the beachfront and has a stunning view in the evening and sunbeds available during the day.

The food is fresh and prepared and presented exquisitely. There are budget friendly options from around 10€ all the way up to weekly premium specials around 60€.

I know nothing about wine, so I cannot comment about the winelist. However I tasted a couple of the cocktails, and they were made with fresh ingredients, tasted very good and was presented in a nice way. Good selection of spirits.

The service was however the thing that stood out the most. The general manager has a big presence in the restaurant. He and his colleagues makes you and all the guests feel special and really makes it an experience that stands out from the rest. The last time we ate there during our vacation we had an early dinner, and almost had the restaurant to ourselves. Upon learning that this was our final evening he offered us a gift from him. The kids got Mickey Mouse cocktails, and he asked if we wanted to have a glass of Prosecco on the house. I asked if it was possible to sample the Metaxa as I hadn't tried it before. And this guy brings out the special reserve and even offered another glass when the first pair were emptied. And then served us locally produced chocolate and raki on the house. Truly...

The restaurant wasn’t directly next to the highway so one of the waiters was waiting with a menu on the pavement. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have stumbled upon this place. Definitely on the pricier side compared to most places in the area but personally worth it for the premium experience we had. The food was delicious, the service was first-rate and the atmosphere was great. It was windy and raining that night but they managed to make the most of it with great ambient lighting and classy music. They had a wide range of choices for both food and drinks. We were frequently visited throughout by the manager who was very pleasant and the waiter, George who was very kind and was an absolute star. We were given complimentary locally produced chocolates and raki after our meal. Looking forward to our next visit when we return to Crete!
