Erontas Mezebar — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

Unfortunately, I have to leave a very negative review of Erontas restaurant. My friends and I were treated in an extremely rude and unprofessional way by the staff — most likely by the owner himself.

From the very beginning, we were completely ignored – even though we were waiting to be seated, no one came to show us a table. The waiter (or owner) avoided eye contact and looked at us in a very unpleasant manner. Eventually, we sat down on our own because there was simply no other option.

We also had to wait far too long for the menus, so in the end, we took them ourselves. When it came time to order, the situation got even worse. After one person managed to say what they wanted, the man started shouting at us, not allowing the other three of us to speak, and then literally snatched the menus out of our hands.

We were so shocked by his behavior that we simply left without saying a word, unable to believe that something like this could happen in a place meant to welcome guests.

I have visited many Greek restaurants and I have always encountered warmth and hospitality. Unfortunately, this time it was the complete opposite. The person running this place seemed very emotionally unstable and unable to control his own mood.

Never to late for feedback, i was at this restaurant many times during my holiday in 2019. I travel regularly to Greece/Crete and are always hunting for the best food experience, and it is not a easy task, especially in tourist areas like Platanias/Agia Marina. In the jungle of restaurants, THIS is one who deliver good food. I read some comments here about people dislike their "non-greek" dishes, and they wait a long time for the food. Well first of all, REAL greeks no not stress things, especially not the food. We as tourists and a visitier of Greece have to be aware of that. If you want the food fast, you go to the "tourists restaurant" where the food is made in big batches and frozen beforehand, microwaved and deliverd in superspeed to make the guest happy. Yeah i understand it is boring to wait, but good food take its time. And last, i do really not understand people who order food that have no origin in Greece, and complain about it not being good enough. You get a Greek version of it. Overall, all the food i ordered here was very good, owners are relaxed and nice with me as a guest. The place is clean and relaxed, even being close to the road. This restaurant/bar has a nice atmosphere from the outside. Once in the inside you realise it's not that cozy nice restaurant. Let's start with the bread... We ordered bread and olive oil as a starter. We got toast and one sachet of salt.. all the other sachets were mayonnaise, mustard (?!) and pepper. This has been the a whole new experience since our 20 days on Crete . My love ordered spaghetti carbonara.. the sauce has been really thick which made the whole dish bit dry to eat. My pizza (vegetables) was okayish but for my opinion just too little vegetables compared to other restaurants vegetables pizzas.

Service was friendly but told us a story about how expensive the card system is and how much he is paying for it to the bank. I mean come on.. be professional. You don't tell this a customer. I am paying monthly electricity and Amazon prime. Do I bother people with my fix costs? Nope.

In the end you have to find out by yourself if you like it there or not. This review is based on one personal experience there.
