My fiancé and I visited Kous Kous on our second night in Chania in early November to celebrate her birthday and had an indredible experience. The owners of the restaurant, Alex and his wife Maria, were very welcoming and passionate about their craft. For drinks, we had the pink spritz and mai tai, both of which were delicious. For food, we ordered the ceviche, cous cous with mackerel, and tuna tataki, and received delicious fresh bread and olives to start. The ceviche was the best we've ever had and the flavors, especially the ginger, complimented perfectly. To follow, the cous cous and mackerel was fishy (in a good way) but fresh and very tasty. Finally, the tuna in the tuna tataki was perfectly cooked and served with vinegary/pickled greens that perfectly offset the saltiness of the soy sauce base. When I mentioned that it was a birthday dinner, Alex insisted he bring us dessert, a profiterole with hazelnut cream that was delivered with a birthday candle while they played "happy birthday" on the speakers. It was generous and equally delicious and capped off a perfect meal. I would highly recommend this place to anybody wanting a tasty, thoughtful, and unique meal. I suspect after this place has been open for more than 1 season it will be highly regarded as one of the best restaurants in Chania, and as others have said, it would be a deserving candidate of the first Michelin star restaurant in Crete.

We made a point to come here almost exclusively because the fava boasts fried olives and capers. I didn’t need to read the rest of the menu. Actually this place isn’t like other restaurants on the strip. The serving sizes are more correctly proportioned (not massive but certainly not small) and nothing on the menu is fried. Well, almost nothing. There’s some calamari but that’s only, we’re told, because they kept getting customers asking for it so they felt obliged. Fair enough, too. Come for the food. Stay for the amazing staff, the beautiful wine and, if you’re lucky, the gorgeous sunset. Sorry, there’s nothing but empty plates to post pictures of so have a sunset from our table instead.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. They went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout the meal. We were lucky enough to be seated at a table with a stunning view, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. The food was simply outstanding—every dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, thanks to the excellent service, the warm staff, and the delicious food. I can't wait to return!

Amazing! The food was spectacular! We had Tuna Takati as an appetizer. Beyond good! Fresh veggies and the sauce was perfect. I elected Raki for drinks while my wife had the house white. Some of the best Raki I have had, ever! The main course was catch of the day for me and Shrimp tempura for my wife. Both were served hot, very visually appealing and the taste was beyond compare. For dessert I had Melon Sorbet, and my wife chose the Cholate ice-cream. Complementary chocolate truffles were included. The venue was well situated to overlook the harbor. Perfectly situated for sunset. You can sit inside, up above the harbor or right down on the dock. Our servers Anna, Manos and unfortunately, I can't remember the third server (although his service was no less fantastic) provided top tier service suggesting choices and being spot on with prompt courteous service. 5+ stars and A++. You be very happy to enjoy...

We had lunch at Kous Kous and had a fantastic experience. We had the sea brass (perfectly fried) and the tuna souvlaki. It was possible to switch the couscous for some salad. The service was very nice, personal and attentive while not being intrusive. The quality of the food was amazing. We were especially blown away by the truffle chocolate presented complimentary at the end. We highly recommend visiting Kous Kous. Not only is it a great deal (good food, appropriate portions, fair prices), the overall experience was so nice and the concept felt surprisingly passionate for such a touristy area.

Final thoughts: It feels like someone wanted to take a different approach than the other restaurants, without economical need since you surely could sell less sophisticated food for a similar price (as most other restaurants in the city do). Very much...
