Meltemi — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

We were a party of 6 and were sadly very disappointed with the food and service. 3 of us ordered Lamb dishes and the dishes we received were mostly comprised of fat and bone, the meat also had not been seasoned and was fairly tasteless. 3 of our party are Vegetarian and the dishes they received were bland and tasteless, the Chaniotiko Bourlaki and the pizza was sadly not good here. Service was very slow and staff seemed uninterested, we left our table after our meal and paid at the bar as nobody was actively looking after us. We are very surprised to have a bad meal in Crete, we have been here a week and every other restaurant has been a great experience. The chef here needs to improve his standards as they are not good, please use better cuts of meat and review the seasoning used in other dishes! The restaurant itself is lovely and is right on the beach, so the view is great and the vibe in the evening is very nice, but the poor food spoiled it for all of us. I'm afraid we would not return and would not recommend this place to family/friends. Hopefully they can improve soon before losing...

Was here on July 15th, arrived around 8 p.m. After ordering it took more than one hour for the food to be served. And at this time the restaurant was about 1/3 occupied (outside area).

About the food quality, I cannot share the opinion of the other reviewers. I agree with the service could be better (there was one waitress, who might misinterpreted that waitress comes from „wait“, she could have been more active instead of waiting around). However, the food is not really good as described here. My meat was very dry, so it was more than dead, like Dead and killed another 2 times. The only way to swallow it was with a lot of hunger (it was already 21:15) and flavored with some frustration and pepper.

Prices are quite Ok, but considering the quality, service and wait time, prices are too high.

I came in with high expectations because of the five stars next to the sign. My boyfriend and I walked in and was greeted by a man who looked like he was coming from the beach and did not belong in a restaurant. We were then seated at a table with a beautiful view of the ocean. The menu was very crowded and confusing but we found what we wanted. We waited about 10 minutes before a waiter came to take our order. Then we waited over an hour for the food. In that waiting time two people came in begging for money, which I find uncomfortable, but none of the waiters did anything. We then asked a waiter if they had forgotten about us, but he said 'no but we had two big party's coming and they had to be served first but the food would be here soon'.
