Honestly one of the worst meals I had in Chania. The fact is that the standard is quite high. I spent 2 weeks on a road trip around the island and got to experience good quality Tavernas, but this wasn't one of them. For starters it was a hot day and we were not given any water, which is a bit unusual. We ordered 2 cups of orange juice and I could swear it came from a juice box. We ordered Zuchini balls which we had in two other places, but these had egg shells in them and were quite a bit oily. As a main I ordered Rooster with white wine sauce, as it sounded quite different. It was oily as well, missing salt, garlic and lemon. Very bland. I'm wondering if it was actually normal stewed chicken. My partner ordered fried prawns, which were bland as well. No taste and too much batter. As desert we were offered melon and nectarine, which were a bit disappointing as well. I can't complain much about this, given that it was offered (which is a standard in Crete), but in many other tavernas I had much better homemade desserts. Nothing wrong with fruit, but it's just easy. The final bill was more or less in line with the fact that we were in old town Chania, but surprisingly they did not allow us to pay using card, meaning I had to leave the place in search for a working ATM.
All in all I can't say the meal was horrible, but it definitely does not deserve 4.8 review...
Read moreWhat a wonderful little restaurant tucked in a narrow alley of Old Town Chania. Georgia and her brother provide the very best hospitality and the most magnificent food. We ate there twice this past week while staying in Chania. After one meal, we knew this had to be the one and only place that we would return for a second dinner during our week long visit. We made a reservation for our final night and suggested that we wanted to try their moussaka. Georgia took note, and saved us the last piece. In addition to the moussaka, we had the stuffed vine leaves, the lamb in yogurt sauce, and the rabbit. Everything was spectacular. Above all, Georgia was a wonderful host, with the very best sense of humour. We look forward returning to Chania in the future and...

Away on holiday in Agia Marina and we had the pleasure in eating at To Mikio taverna. The food was very traditional Cretan cuisine. I highly recommend the moussaka and the lamb in red sauce.
We were greeted by Georgia who instantly showed us to our table. The surroundings were traditional and very well presented with beautiful stone wall surroundings.
The food was served hot and delicious! It is slightly off the main strip/road but definitely worth the walk! If i could give this restaurant a 6/5 i would! The best meal of our holiday.
