A Mixed Experience. Some Highlights, Some Concerns
We’ve had dinner here yesterday evening as a family of four, from around 8:00 PM until 10:30 PM. We had tried to eat here earlier during a themed Greek night, but it was fully booked.
The food was decent, generous portions and different in taste than we’re used to, though not in a bad way. There was plenty of staff around, which is usually a good sign.
However, one person we assumed to be the manager seemed quite stressed, and this created a bit of tension throughout the restaurant. The live music and dancing added a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, which helped lighten the mood.
Unfortunately, we were quite shocked by a loud outburst at the bar. One of the staff members, we assume the manager, became very angry, slammed the counter, and shouted. It was upsetting to witness and made us feel uncomfortable.
We understand that we’re in a different country with its own culture and customs, and we respect that. Still, this incident stood out as a major negative moment during our visit.
On a more positive note, the traditional plate-smashing was a fun surprise, especially for our youngest, who absolutely loved it.
All in all, it was a decent evening. Not amazing, but okay. Some unique experiences, both good and...
Read moreThis was the first restaurant we came to on our vacation and to say we were impressed would be an understatement. It was lunch time on a Monday, it was completely empty and even so the atmosphere was amazing! Beautiful terrace with plants and trees growing in between the tables. This restaurant is fully family owned and operated and they treat you as if you are part of the family as well. The mother and daughter served us our food and the father cooked our meal. SO CUTE!! The tzatziki is a must have, and my husband and I shared the chicken gyros and calamari meal. The food is fresh and very delicious! As it was our first time in the area we asked for some insights on good local spots, the daughter took the time to write down a long list of places to check out around the area and if we wanted to go a little outside the area. To top it all off, they brought us some of the best watermelon I’ve ever had that was grown from one of their friends. Needless to say, we booked a reservation to come back the following night to see some traditional Creta and Greek dances and live music. Very highly recommended...
Read moreWe booked the table by Wednesday evening when they have also Greek traditional food and entertainment. Like people have commented before that the owner and his family are really nice and warm people to greet you in their tavern. We usually do not eat much but as we prepared for longer stay then we planned 3 course meal and get a taste of different food. So we all took something different and the portions were bigger than I had ever got before. The more north you go in Europe the smaller are the portions you get in restaurants so these portions knocked us off our feet :) We eat more that evening than in our all inclusive hotel daily. And the taste... if you have opportunity to step in then do not let it pass by.
I do not know about price level for the area overall but our 4 person family 3 courses plus 3 rounds of drinks was totally 127 eur that makes a bit over 30 eur per person. In my home land I would get main course and a drink for that money and nothing else :D
The cultural program with dancing and singing made it to...
