Taverna Zorbas — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

I highly recommend anyone staying in the area does not overlook this great restaurant!! This restaurant was easily our favorite while staying in Gouves. 5/7 days we stayed in Gouves we went to Taverna Zorbas because the food was so fresh and delicious and we had the absolute best service here. We regularly had a server named Miron who was always helpful to tell us what to try from the menu every day so we could try something new and authentic every time. All the chicken dishes we tried were delicious including souvlaki, grilled chicken fillet and chicken gyros. All the meat is well marinated. The mousaka was good. The lamb knuckle and the bolognese pasta were so delicious it tasted like something my mom would cook at home. We loved the calamari with tzatziki sauce and Greek salad. Also the grape vine leave wraps were so good, along with the fried zucchini. As you can see, we tried many dishes from the menu. Everyday I ate here I could taste the freshness in every bite. The view of the sea was an additional bonus to the atmosphere as we would frequently watch the sunset as we were enjoying our dinners. Extremely poor service, basket of bread was placed on the table,we thought this was complimentary but most of it was unediible one slice was stale/hard and had a pungent smell, most of it was left. Our mains arrived and the quality was poor, I wanted chicken a la creme, it was a mediocre cheese sauce, definitely not chicken a la creme, my daughter in law ordered a lamb kleftico which arrived swimming in grease and mostly fat and Luke warm, it looked like it had come out of a buffet tray ( we ordered from their a la carte menu ). We complained to a elderly waiter,he just shrugged his shoulders with his arms in the air. We complained to another waiter who said the food was cold because they were busy and nether offered to replace or offer an alternative meal. We could not get any satisfaction from them so we suggested that they didn't charge for the kleftico . Next another waiter ( different from the other 2) arrived with the bill , they had not deducted for the uneaten greasy cold kleftico but to add insult to the already poor service they had charged for the stale bread. We saw a Restaurant with a nice sea view, so we decided to Come Here. We did not know that the restaurant is part of a big hotel. We ordered the seafood pasta and sea bass, as we read in the reviews that the seafood was very good. But we were really dissapointed. The sea Bass was over-cooked and dry, probably Not Fresh. You could taste that the vegetables were not freshly prepared. The seafood pasta was the worst dish we tasted in our stay in Gouves. Still After having eaten only 3-4 bites, my wife spent the rest of the night on the toilet. After Dinner we got some free cake, which was still frozen on the inside.
