Isla — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

This is one of the restauran nots in Gouves which relies on a steady stream of tourists for it's business since it's outside Heraklion and most do not have a vehicle. We were perusing the menu when the hostess informed us it was a set menu for twenty Euros a person but that it was a lot of food and genuine Greek dishes. The portions were very small (shared plates) and most of the dishes were hardly Greek although made with similar ingredients (I am Greek). The service was barely adequate and we had to hunt staff down for the bill. The washroom was not clean (there were dried feces down the front of the toilet bowl) . At the end the waiter asked how everything was so I asked if he wanted my real opinion which I then expressed to him. His response was that I didn't complain about anything......of course that's the restaurant's job to inquire if anything's is needed, plus we were exhausted from a full day of travel. Nothing at all was done to rectify the situation in any way, he just seemed bored while going through the motions. The whole experience lies in stark contrast to all the places we have eaten over the last few weeks with wonderful food, large portions, helpful and attentive staff, etc. Overall a very disappointing dining experience and testament to the Gouves area's dining establishments. As almost everybody else, we had dinner here as part of our stay at Marina Beach hotel. Upon arrival we were seated promptly at a nice table with a lovely view of the sea. After taking our orders for drinks, half of the 10 different dishes were served at once. Each dish consists of a small plate in order to sample the food. Overall, it was more than enough and we struggled to finish our desserts at the end. Every single dish for me was a winner, food temperature was adequate. The one thing I could think of which would have been nice is to get a fresh plate after those meals which included more sauce in order not to mix the sauces on the plate too much but this is really nitpicking on my part. The drinks we had were all included in the price since they were also part of the free drinking selection from the hotel. The only exception was the virgin mojito which at €6,+ seemed a bit steep and did not resemble a Mojito in the slightest regarding taste. Overall, an excellent evening with very friendly waiting staff...

Shocking...7 of us just went for dinner here. 2 ordered seafood risotto and I ordered a vegan risotto. They brought the food out...2 vegan risottos. We told them should be 2 seafood so they took 1 vegan away. Then the waitress said "enjoy" as if that's it when one person didn't have their seafood risotto. We realised they weren't going to correct so asked them. The waiter apologised and we assumed would be back with the meal shortly after. Half hour later still nothing. Eventually (almost 2 hours after arriving) the waitress came over and said it would be another 15 minutes.

At this point it was 9pm and we had enough so decided to leave. They didn't even discount the bill. However they did ask if we wanted dessert (while one hadn't had dinner yet 🤣) We declined.

Definitely do NOT recommend.
