This is the worst Greek food Iâve ever had tried, and Iâve tried and a fish dishes, and none of them turned out any good. Iâm not talking about personal preferences now, food here tastes like school food. And be prepared that even raki here comes watered down at least 50/50. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Update: I explained it very clear. But I can give people reading this a couple more hints. I love Greece, been here more than 20 times, on different islands and the main land. One of the reasons I love it so much here is great food, which Iâm always looking forward to try. Me and my friend came to this taverna the first evening we came, and that was a bad call for both of us. I never tried BAD Greek food before, itâs always been either VERY GOOD or dissent. But I guess everything happens for the first time sometime. Knossos tavern changed my world in a bad way. Food was just horrible and the service is on par. So if you want to enjoy your staying in Malia, stay away from this place. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good food to book a table at Stavros tavern or any other place in the old city. It will not disappoint you. Besides that you will also get a great service and raki, which is not watered down, because they respect their guests. I normally donât leave reviews, just in outstanding cases I do that. This is my first negative review, and I hope to inform people and save them from a ruined evening.
P.s. My friend ate half of the meat I ordered, because he felt sorry for the owner. It was badly made and...

We gave this Taverna a try during our stay in Malia this year. At the beginning we had quite a good feeling as the hosts were very friendly and positive.
However I unfortunately had to make an unpleasant experience with the food.
The garlic bread was like a hotdog bun with garlic an cheese on it.. however not crispy at all.. if they would have used regular bread it would have been much better..
Dolmadakia (stuffed wine leaves) were homemade and delicious. But 4 pieces for a price where I was getting between 8&10 of the same quality in other tavernas (also in Malia) - so in that case price/performance ratio was slightly lacking unfortunately.
Shrimp Saganaki was generally ok; but sadly was tasting a little bit bland.. maybe the tomatoes were not best quality that day.. could happen.. I think so as the Greek salad was also not as tasty as I know it from other tavernas..
Maybe they just had a bad day or bad luck with the food resources bought...
Maybe I'll give it another try next time in Malia....
Read moreThis place...just wow!! There's so many places to eat in and around the area, but this one is an absolute NO BRAINER! You arrive as a stranger but leave as a genuine friend.... or dare I say....part of the the family!! The food is traditional and amazing, the service is what you'd expect from mother and son on the 'shop floor' and the atmosphere is.... well, just perfect as everyone is loving the food and vibe. I had a 5 night stay in Malia.... and 3 of the nights I ate here.... and still have 1 night to go so there's a good chance it'll be 4 or of 5 đ I actually genuinely feel sorry for the people...
