My dining experience at Myrtios traditional Taverna, located in the charming old Heronissos district, was truly exceptional. The authentic Greek atmosphere, combined with the exceptional food and service, made for an unforgettable evening.
The standout dish was the Gyros platter, which was nothing short of exceptional. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying sides were fresh and flavorful. The traditional Greek flavors and spices were evident in every bite, making it a true authentic experience. Additionally, the house wine was exceptional and perfectly complemented the meal.
The ambiance of the restaurant was equally impressive, with the traditional Greek custom of throwing plates on the ground adding to the lively and festive atmosphere. The location at the old town square of Old Heronissos was the perfect setting, creating a truly authentic and memorable experience.
Despite being only a 10-minute taxi ride from Heronissos itself, the restaurant was easily accessible, making it a convenient destination for anyone visiting the area. The exceptional food, service, and atmosphere at Myrtios traditional Taverna make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Greek dining experience.
In summary, Myrtios traditional Taverna is an exceptional restaurant, with exceptional food, service, and ambiance. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the...
Read moreThis taverna used to serve wonderful traditional food from a charcoal oven. Over the last couple of years it's grown in size and installed an Antikristo for grilled meats.
Although both of us had ordered a main meal, mine didn't come. When we called the waiter over he acted dumbfounded. We knew we ordered it and the waiter had even commented when we placed the order. So one main arrived 15 minutes after the other.
Unfortunately I was stupid enough to order a traditional meal of Pastistio which was the meal which at first failed to arrive. It was inedible. It had obviously been frozen as you could see where the bechamel sauce had freeze marks through it. There were parts of the pasta that were uncooked and the little I tried had no flavour. Frankly inedible. So waiter called again. He knew nothing , another waiter came over, I pointed out the problems and he listened.
The inedible part of my meal was removed from the bill.
If you visit this taverna, I recommend you order pizza or meat from the Antikristo . We won't be visiting again this year . Such a shame as in the past we've had very good food here.
We were not there on the village Greek night.
The pictures below are from previous years and unfortunately I cannot...
Read moreSo sad that I have to write this review. I came here with my girlfriend last month and we had a lovely time and the food was amazing. We returned 3 days later and the sushi wasn’t fresh and the waiter was useless.
I’ve come back to the island today for a wedding and said I had a good meal here and everyone loves seafood. 3 starters didn’t turn up, one was so late we had to say don’t worry about it.
The mains eventually turned up and two had to be returned. Over cooked prawns and undercooked risotto. Really embarrassing to tell people this place was nice and should have looked at the recent reviews regarding the service. Only one waiter was attentive, the others are completely useless just standing around. We had to top our own wine glasses up as no one was coming to our table and had to ask to have the empty places taken even after a waiter had passed our table.
Originally i wrote a 5* review and was really impressed but this was shocking and embarrassing. It costs a lot for what you get and I wouldn’t ever return. The attitude of the waiters was awful when we explained the food was bad which is terrible when it’s a customer clearly telling you the honest opinion not trying to be rude or difficult.
Definitely won’t...
