Repost from 13th September 2018.
I had to remove the below review after mine and my partners life was threatened by the owner if we didn’t take it down.
This all started when I realised I had left a bag at the restaurant and enquired via the hotel we stayed at if the bag had been found. To our surprise the restaurant offered to bring the bag to our hotel! Reason for this was not out of kindness but to confront us about the review below. This seemed very odd and aggressive so Instead of meeting him I called and asked what it was he wanted to speak about. Immediately he became very aggressive. Saying that ‘if I don’t remove this review I will not make it back to England, I know where you’re staying, you hear me!’
We took the review down as we didn’t want any trouble whilst on holiday, especially from some bully.
Since, we regretted taking down the review because I’m sure now that the owner feels like he has won this, with his threatening manner. I can assure you he hasn’t, we have reported him to the police and also raised this with trip advisor, who have already responded as they do not put up with anything of this sort.
If you take the time to read his other bad reviews, you will see that he states all of them are fake reviews and that he has the IP address of the reviewer (very threatening I think). I’m sure he will write the same about mine. I leave it down to you the innocent holiday maker, like I was to make your own judgment.
Original review below....................
Very disappointing.
Food not great and very poor, lazy service.
My partner ordered the moussaka which had very little aubergine and was full of French fries!...first time I've ever known a moussaka to contain fries.
When I asked to order some wine I was offered the choice of 2 bottles. One for €35 and one for €45. In hindsight I should have asked for the wine list as I find it hard to believe they only had 2 options.
Overall a poor experience and I would not...
Read moreWOW is a word my wife and I used with virtually every mouthful of food from this wonderful place. Just popped in this afternoon for a drink after stopping off the local Ting Ting road train, and was greeted by the waiter George. A fantastic guy (even though he's a Sheffield Wednesday fan) and we decided to book a table for tonight's(Monday) local Creta night. We ordered a Meze starter for two, unbelievably out of this world with about twelve different items on the large plate for my wife and I to share. This was followed by, for my wife, Pork in a mushroom and red wine sauce and Sirloin in a blue cheese sauce for myself. Both dishes,as I said at the start, was followed by a WOW as they were really gorgeous. Many thanks to George the waiter for looking after us so well on such a busy night. Local music and dancing really added to the atmosphere, especially as my wife was up with the rest dancing around the square. So,when visiting Hersonissos Old Town,be sure to make it on a Monday night, ask for George the waiter at Sofa's Taverner and be sure to comment on his lack of taste in English...
Read moreGorgeous food- especially the pork fillet! A real gem for this location!! We have been Crete 3 times and always make the trip to this restaurant. Nestled in the old town of hersonissos - a short taxi ride away from the main sea and resorts of stalis , surrounded by a beautiful Greek square - you couldn’t get more picturesque. But it’s not the surroundings that make this place- it’s the food!!! Traditional Greek food, meets high end flavours and presentation. It’s our favourite restaurant to beat in the stalis and hersonissos areas so far. The staff we skilled in their welcome and service. Advice- book a table of you want to eat past 7.30pm as it’s always full. Our favourite dishes are the giant prawn starter and the pork tacos. Sorry for limited pictures , our table was filled - We just...
