Giousouro — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

Living in this neighborhood, we are systematically sampling/testing all the various establishments and Giousouro instantly became a new favorite for the amazing food, the expert staff, and of course the proximity to our house and offices.

This is an upscale fish restaurant with down to Earth prices - or in short - a great value if you are in the neighborhood. From the starters to the main, the wine, and the complimentary dessert, our dining experience on this day was perfect.

The only thing that could make this a better restaurant/taverna is if it were on the seafront like some that are far inferior. Try the red mullet, fava, and especially their shrimp/pasta dishes, which are amazing - best in Heraklion in fact.

One of my favorite restaurants in Heraklion, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is always relaxed. The staff are very friendly and helpful but leave you in peace to enjoy your meal. I’ve been here several times over the last year and my favorite dishes are the shrimp spaghetti, fried baby squids and also the newer Giousouro linguini which is my favorite by far. The best Greek family restaurant that me and my friends visited while our 2 weeks in Greece doing islands hopping. The food was awesome, especially grilled fish. The owner is a sailor as well as his son, so they fish for a fresh stuff almost every day and then make it for the guests. Very friendly and hospitable people!
