We sat down 4 people we were informed by the server the seats we’re a minimum order of 10€ a set we started off by ordering 4 coffees that were 3.50€ (each) he brings the coffees with 4 waters that we never ordered. He tells us the water is included with the coffee. He then asked if we were ready to pay which we responded with can we pay later since we planned on spending the minimum 20€ for the 2 sets of chairs. He insisted we pay right away and charged a miscellaneous 4€ and 2€ for the waters to make up to the minimum fee. Avoid this place at all costs they charge for random things and water you never asked for.

We had a dinner and lunch there. The octopus, small white fish and fried calamari. All excellent especially the calamari. Service was also very pleasant. The beach lounges come with a minimum spend of €10-€15. Unfortunately even though you’re having lunch and spending €40+ the minimum spend for the lounges still apply.

I am a regular there every time I visit kalamata. Good food, quick and friendly service, prices kept low. You might realize now the reason I go there often. Sunbeds free of charge, you pay only for your drinks and food you get. Free WiFi. Totally recommended to visit, your life your choice.

Update summer 2025: I’ll change my review from 5 to 2 stars. We ate at lunch Shrimps saganaki (good but with few shrimps) and chicken souvlaki (very few potatos). The food was really good as per Greek cuisine tradition. What surprised me the most, was the change about the service. We ate at lunch and then, as we do every year, we wanted to lay down at the beach. They told us that in order to stay at the beach, there is a mandatory 10 euros consumption. That’s ok, we understand that it may not be possible to leave the free seats as it was always done. BUT we ate at the restaurant, and to lay down we have another mandatory 10 euros to pay? Is that something you do with all Greeks or only with foreign people? I am asking because there are no written signs about this new policy. That’s not normal here in Greece… We went away and, a few places away we could sit down in a more beautiful spot, for free (but of course we paid for a consumption) and with kinder waiters. I will not come back

3 years ago review: Best taverna in town! Perfect service, with water and menu immediately when you sit down. Waiters really kind and helpful. Manos...

AVOID!! Yesterday my wife and I came here to eat and everything was just ok apart from the portions were quite small compared to surrounding beach bars. Today we went and decided to have a few beers and a swim. We are locals and haven't experienced anything like this. The waiter insisted on cash at the time he delivered our beer and snack. We said we would stay and order more but he said we had to pay cash every time he brought more food or beer. I asked about paying with a card and he said we would have to go off the beach, thru the restaurant, across the street, thru the bar and pay there. I gave him cash and we swam. A few minutes later 2 other couples came down and ordered and didn't pay on the spot. I don't think we looked any different and are retired so not likely to run down the beach without paying. We left and wanted to ask the owner why we were singled out by this young man who also was very unfriendly. The owner wasn't there and a manager just didn't care or even offer an explanation. Very bad vibe from this place. If you do decide to take your chances well, I tried...

Im a local and i have friends from abroad that come and Routsis has local food. Two years ago i went there and wanted to pay for the table to treat. The waiter told me i couldnt pay with card even though its a law in Greece to accept card payments. Today i went there again two years later to give them another shot. I was there with my family and again friends from abroad. I asked the waiter to bring the bill and to pay with card. I wanter to treat my friends and pay for the table. The waiter as sneaky as he could he brought a paper to my foreign friend and said its 45€. I was like bring the EFTPOS to pay with card and again two years later he said aaa it doesnt work today. Hence once again my foreign friends paid with cash while i wanted to treat them. The waiter didnt bring a receipt either. They just want your quick cash at this shop. I dont recommend it to anyone. Alkyonides next door is far superior. Im a local...
