Jasmine Restaurant Cafe — Restaurant in Municipality of Kos

This has been one my favourite places on the Kos waterfront to relax with a cocktail and meal while people watching. On 7th Aug we arrived and the waiter came over with the menus and then proceeded to point out and tell us all about the cocktails. I stopped him and told him that we can read and decide for ourselves. I found his over zealous approach very irritating. We ordered drinks and when I wanted to order the lamb chops I was informed that the cook (a lady) did not know how to cook lamb chops!!! So this cook is obviously not a chef. I then asked about pork chops - same response. I felt I had to choose quickly so I went withe stifado and husband got a pizza. When there was still over half of my husband's beer left, I noticed that the Mythos 500ml glass had a long crack down the side and a chip out of the rim. Another waiter took the glass away and brought my husband a new full beer. I had ordered a mango mojito and all l could taste was mango syrup and I am doubtful if there was any rum at all and the tiniest piece of mint did not add to the flavour. We usually leave a tip but we were disappointed and left deciding...

We stayed in the apartments above the restaurant, had a fabulous view over the harbour area where we enjoyed watching the daily boat excursions leave and come back. The room was comfortable although the ‘sofa’ was a single bed so was a bit high and slightly awkward to sit on. The apartment is a short walk to the town, beaches and supermarket and is in a great position. The only downside is that there seems to be a nightclub or bar that plays music pretty loudly until around 2am although we blocked most of it out with earplugs and a couple of glasses of wine!

The restaurant downstairs serves delicious food and big portions! We fell in love with the truffle chicken risotto and had that more than once during our stay! The staff were friendly and polite so we always felt welcome. A slight negative is the toilet facilities are all the way at the back and up some stairs and not in the greatest of conditions. This is certainly not enough to affect our visit but a consideration if you have trouble...

Lets start with the service...well it was..boring, not talkative, not happy and zero knowledge on the food they were serving, also the waitress that took the order did not used the app so the result was to forget our salad :D (we ordered 1 salad 1 side and 2 main. Of course i told them to not bring the salad after they told me that it was never ordered) i guess it was too much information for her. Lets continue with the kitchen, it was very slow (40 minutes for 2 main and 1 side in no rush hour) all food came room temperature (its the kitchens job to rush the waiter if he is chilling) and both the chicken fillet and chicken souvlaki were dry, the feta with honey had a good crust but thats it. Portions were very small compared to price. Overall you can find better restaurants to eat than this one...just...
