Socrates Taverna, Kos (3.9.2025)

Very disappointing experience. While looking for a restaurant on September 3rd, my wife and I checked the menu at Socrates Taverna. The waiter showed no real interest once he heard we were planning for the next day.

The following evening, after we dined elsewhere, we passed by the taverna and the same waiter almost dragged us inside, insisting that we had promised to come. I explained politely that we had never made a reservation or commitment, but he kept pushing in a very rude way. When I told him that I prefer to spend my money where I feel welcome, he asked where I was from. After I said I was from Serbia, he replied that he was Albanian and that now he understood why I had “such an attitude,” basically implying that people from Serbia don’t know how to behave.

This was not only offensive but discriminatory and absolutely unprofessional. A waiter should never insult guests based on nationality. He should also remember that he himself is a visitor in another country – one with a different culture and religion – and should represent his people with respect, not hostility.

Such behavior leaves a very negative impression. I hope the management educates this employee about basic hospitality, manners, and tolerance, because this does not belong in a tourist...

I'm always careful at where we eat as I always check reviews before we eat somewhere but unfortunately last nightI was unable to check beforehand.

We decided to eat at Sifis, we were given a warm welcome by the front of house as all places do.

We were seated and probably waited 5 minutes before anyone asked us if we would like a drink and for some menus to choose from. Two more tables were sat after us and they received there menus, drinks and starters before we had anything. The humus and pitta were very tasty, however we were brought our main courses whilst we were still eating the first course. The steaks my partner and I had were absolutely awful. They were tough as old boots. We left most of the steaks, we told the waiter they were tough but he offered no apology. We got the bill and left, again no apology from the person we paid the bil to. Probably my worst eating experience ever and it cost me 56 euros. I wouldn't...

Worst experience on Kos. Staff was nice to get you inside but the moment you sat down you weren’t important anymore. Didn’t care to ask us if we wanted something to drink. We got there at 19:30 since we had to go at 21:30 because we needed to be somewhere. Ordered at 19:35 but had to want 1hr30 min for our food!! When asked when we would get our food aftee 1 hour they just ignored us. When the food finally got there i said ‘finally’ and the waiter told me to not be rude. After he said that I was indeed rude to him cause you don’t treat customers like that and you don’t call them rude. They didn’t even apologize for the wait!! I would atleast expect an aplogy but instead i got called rude. 6 tables were seated after us and 6 tables were served food before us. Food was not good also, it was burned and bland totally flavorless.

Don’t go here if you want a nice dinner. I will never be...

Great restaurant! We went there three times during our stay, whether just for a drink or to have a meal, and every time the service was absolutely perfect. The staff are truly lovely — friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. The restaurant is ideally located along the port of Kos, shaded from the sun under a charming pergola, with a pleasant sea breeze that makes the experience even more enjoyable. We especially fell in love with their moussaka — probably the best we had in Kos! The dishes are generous, full of flavor, and the value for money is excellent. We definitely recommend this place, whether for lunch or dinner. Thank you to the whole team for the wonderful memories! Flavie and Julien from Belgium 🇧đŸ‡Ș

Came to this place for drinks and pizza it was good vibes! Also, me and my friend were speaking to one of the staff at the restaurant (I don't know his name but he said he was 28 and had curly brown hair) & I just wanted to say thank so much for helping us find a pharmacy for my friend we struggled to find one open so you really helped us. We tried to come back to thank in person but couldn't find him Please could you pass on the message, thank you xx
