RACISM WARNING
Here’s your review polished with a heavy dose of sarcasm:
"A Masterclass in 'Coincidental' Service at Flamingos! ???
Ah, Flamingos—where hospitality goes to die with a smile! Visited on the 21st of May for a family meal with 14 guests. We were warmly greeted by a lovely elderly gentleman with an ambiguous Australian/South African accent (mysterious, right?). Little did I know, this would be the last pleasant moment of the evening.
Enter our star waiter—a young man with a fascinating approach to table service. Now, picture this: a large table of 14, mostly Caucasian guests, with me—a sole Black gentleman—sitting at the head, and my mixed-race daughter beside me (relevant detail, as you’ll see). The waiter, in his infinite wisdom, decides to start taking orders... from literally everyone but us. How quirky!
At first, I thought, "Maybe he’s just spatially challenged?" But no—after taking 12 whole orders, he somehow conveniently skipped mine. My partner, ever the optimist, gently reminded him that, oops, he’d also missed my daughter’s order. Silly mistakes happen, right?
Then came the piece de resistance: when the food arrived, shockingly, ours was missing. The waiter’s explanation? "Oh, your orders were on a separate ticket!" How innovative! I had no idea that sitting at the head of the table automatically triggered a special segregation feature in their ordering system.
When I dared to question this astonishing coincidence, the waiter—without prompting—assured me he wasn’t racist and even flashed his Ethnic Friend Credentials™ (shoutout to the Albanian chef grinning at my frustration and the local Greek staff). Because, you know, nothing says "I’m not racist" like frantically pointing at your non-white coworkers.
Anyway, if you’re a person of color and enjoy "Was that intentional or just impressively incompetent?" dining experiences, Flamingos is the spot. Otherwise, there are probably far friendlier places around the marina. A real shame—the other staff seemed nice. But hey, maybe they just didn’t...
Read moreThe food was good, the service as well, but i don't know if it was an honest mistake or a common practice, they served as with a bill that wasn't ours. Luckily their alphabet has some similar letters as the cyrillic one, so i noticed that there were items on the receipt we didn't order, so at first we payed about 10 euros more + the tip, until we figured it out. When we did, they apologized immediately and gave us our receipt (from 37.60 to 28.30). They gave us our money back, explained the server didn't wear his glasses so he mixed the tables and gave us the bill from the (empty) table next to us. Maybe it was really an honest mistake, but just a caution notice for everyone; check your receipts before giving them your money, otherwise the food and service is a solid 4, and the location and decor are as...
Read moreThe food here was delicious and portion size on the larger side so good taste, good quantity and good value. Service, as you would expect, was excellent. They also provide a selection of craft beers on the menu, if this is your thing, as it is mine, it's another good reason for a visit. My only - sort of - gripe was the musak being played. They were all popular pop songs but cover versions and interesting changes in arrangement. It was a regular topic of conversation when another classic song was murdered, tempo slowed to a painful death or tom-tom intro added. In the end, the music was so bad, you have to visit to hear it. And also enjoy great food and service while...
