Irini's Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

Another great restaurant in Naxos. A bit more expensive than the restaurants further away from the beach but they make it up with their great service, atmosphere and big portions. While waiting for our food (which was delivered quickly), we were given a big loaf of delicious crusty bread. We had our first moussaka which was good for 2 people (my husband being 6"5' tall needs his big portion of meat). It was delicious! They recommended their Naxos lamb with tomato sauce. We had the option to have rice, chips or spaghetti with it. We struggled to choose because our 2 year old daughter loves rice and chips. The waiter was so kind, he gave us both. The lamb was off the bone. It's very good! We also had the Naxos salad which was covered in a mountain of delicious feta cheese! They also didn't skimp on capers (which I love) and gave us 2 bottles of olive oil in case we want more. As we struggled to finish the food (because of the big portions and not because of the taste) the waiter came out with 3 servings of dessert (I didn't get the name but it's like custard pie with cinnamon. Very yummy!) a plate of sliced apples and oranges with honey and cinnamon 2 shots of their local liquor and a shot of orange juice for our daughter. It was worth it! Thank you for a great experience. Located in a picturesque location within Chora, this restaurant provides an enchanting setting. Its eco-friendly environment overlooks the captivating sea, while the interior is adorned with an abundance of natural flowers, creating a truly beautiful atmosphere. Just in front of the restaurant, you'll find a flower bed adorned with tomato bushes, accompanied by nearby fountains. A soothing melody fills the air, creating a relaxing backdrop. The food served here is exceptional, as I discovered while savouring a generous portion of bifteki, accompanied by fries, salad, and tzaziki. Additionally, the Fried Calamari, also served with fries, salad, and tzatziki, was equally delightful. The lamb meal was also so delicious.

The orange juice and homemade lemonade were refreshingly fresh. To top it all off, they kindly presented us with a complimentary, delightful, and freshly-made sweet along with kitro after the meal. The Irini's is, hands down, my favourite Greek restaurant, and not just in Naxos. We've been here in 2015, 2018 and 2023 and the quality and service was amazing. There is a large selection of local food. We have tried most of the mezedes and the quality ranges from "good" to "perfect" (most are excellent or perfect). Some personal favourites: the taramosalata, cod fish croquettes and spicy feta. You will also find two pages of main plates, if that's your thing. Given the size of the portions, it's quite cheap, too. The staff is incredibly friendly. Every plate comes with a smile and you really feel like being 90% happy with the service isn't good enough for them. It's one of the best experiences I had in a restaurant.
