Superb food at incredibly low prices, lovely staff, relaxing end of Chora seafront, stunning Portara and sunset views
Spotting the restaurant’s wonderful shore-side location and vista on our way back from Portara, we stopped just for a beer. Seeing some locals stop by for meze snacks, we asked to see the menu. Wow, so glad we did! Our dinner was amazing. Husband’s ‘fisherman’s plate’ was an impressive array of seafood, and expertly cooked he said. He’s a fisherman’s son, so that’s high praise. As a vegetarian, I was delighted with the zucchini fritters, Fava and Tzatziki – genuinely the best in 3 weeks travelling around Greece.
Very generous portions of everything, and warm and attentive service. Astonishingly, just €65 in total for a massive meal (pita that turned out to be a gyro missing from photos) and four 500ml draft beers. They should charge much, much more for this excellent level of food and service. And with the ambience and sunset views, we couldn't understand why this place wasn’t packed with diners. Maybe it's that the interior decor could be a little refreshed? Huge thumbs up from us, though!! Relax will be our first restaurant visit when (not if) back on the wonderful...
Read moreI had lunch and breakfast here. For lunch I had Imam - eggplant with onions, different peppers and soft Naxian cheese and a glass of Prosecco The eggplant was delicious but came with chips (which wasn’t written on the menu) Fine if you like chips but I would’ve preferred a little more eggplant. The Prosecco was quite good. For breakfast I had Avocado and poached eggs without the Turkey as I’m a pescatarian. The eggs were well poached and the bread okay but not really toasted. The best thing about this place is the service and the location. On the far eastern end of the esplanade it has a beautiful view and it’s very relaxing. You can pop around the corner for a sunbake on the beach or view Portara the ruins of a temple of Apollo. The twin brothers who run ‘Relax’ are lovely and very eager to meet the...
Read moreWe asked for just drinks as other people were there having just drinks. When we said we only wanted drinks the waiter took offence and continued to treat us with contempt. We’ve been island hopping for our honeymoon and been to many restaurants and bars to be met with a smile and great service. This is the first and last one we had bad service. “Relax” we had far from a relaxing experience. Beer was warm and my partners Prosecco had very little fizz to it. Worse thing was we could see other people being served beers in frozen glasses etc.
In short, don’t go here, read the reviews first that...
