We were recommended this restarant and were so glad we took the advice to go there. The restarant is set in a quieter area of Sidari and has not only fantastic food but is an amazing restaurant as well. Set up like a cosy home, the lounge is full of interesting memorabilia. All around there are so many things of interest to look at adorning the walls. The tables are cosy, and the restaurant is surrounded by lush plants and flowers in big pots and hanging from the walls. There is a fireplace in the salon with old clocks, and black and white photos around the walls, old brass bedheads leaning against the wall. Farm impliments and old carpet beaters, dressing tables and a wardrobe with big hats and feathers and so much more. Even the toilet is a sight to see! The food was delicious, the best saganaki that we had, ( crispy fried cheese! our favorite food of Greece) creamy spicy cheese dip, crispy pork belly, homemade chips, feta cheese covered in seaseme seeds and drizzled in honey, chicken souvlaki, tzatziki, the list goes on, it was all delicious. Good price, large portions, friendly staff, a family business that the present owners continued running from their mother. We went a few times and could have eaten there every night to be honest but thought that wasn´t very adventurous! Highly recommeded this...
Read moreWe visited Katerina’s Tavern as we found it on Google maps. we were not disappointed when we saw it in person. from 1st glance it was one of the most frequented Taverna’s on this particular strip and for good reason. A bustling atmosphere that just pulls you to want to go inside. Worried by how busy it was that we wouldn’t be able to get a table we only had to wait 20mins. After a small relaxing stroll to the beach front and back we were promptly seated and amazed by the incredible interior decor. A beautiful place with plenty to look at. The service was great and all staff were friendly smiley and helpful. Lastly the food, the most important part. The food was amazing. I had the Chicken Gyros platter, and good portion and incredibly juicy tender and flavourful chicken, the freshest tasting juiciest tomatoes ever, “Grandma’s recipe” Tzatziki was amazing. My wife had the lamb shank which was beautifully cooked and just fell away from the bone. We couldn’t recommend this Taverna enough. You can see why it is so busy here. A real standout compared to the other Taverna’s in the area. Taverna’s that are also really good, so the fact that this stands out so much more as being a tier above says it all. All washed down with half a litre jug of Sangria. All for £46 Euro’s. AMAZING. we can’t...
Read moreWe ate here yesterday, a party of 6.
What can I say.... From setting foot into the place, it was nothing short of perfection. We had two "picky eater" teens, and a pensioner so we were expecting some grumbles at some point... Nothing came! I ordered the seafood marinara and it was the best seafood dish I've had in a very long time. The teens had fish goujons and one blew my mind and actually tried a Greek dish after seeing it come out of the kitchen for someone else (sofrito). Both said that it was "nice" and cleaned their plates (high praise indeed). Other meals we had were a gyros plate and a chicken and mushroom dish, all were flawless.
The atmosphere was lovely and chilled with soft traditional greek music piped through into the restaurant. Staff were attentive, polite, and informative. Full of smiles and they just seemed happy.
There were a couple of resident cats strutting about but they didn't beg or cause a nuisance, it just added to the whole "greek vibe".
Just to add, we had attempted to eat here the previous night but it was fully booked. I'd highly recommend having a wander up during the day to book a table. It's quick, easy and very worth it.
Tl;dr Best place I've eaten in Sidari by a country mile. You definitely won't be disappointed if...
