Maleme Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Platanias

My Worst Taverna Experience in many years. Marvelous location on the beach, but: much more expensive, less tasty, sloppy and dull food. With very annoying responses when we complained. Example: Greek Salad for 7 Euros (usualy 4-5) doesn't include bread. We were offered bread separately, it was far from fresh and hard to chew, and only in the bill we noticed it cost additional 13 Euros! It came with only 3 (yes three) olives. When we complained the answer was "next time you should say you want more olives". It had NO olive oil in it. And the tomatoes were absolutely taste-less. I ordered "Yamista" - stuffed pepper and tomato. I got stuffed vine leaves. When I complained the waiter first tried insisting it IS Yamista. When I insisted he said I misunderstood him and that it has peppers & tomatoes inside - which of course it did not. Then when I insisted he said "If you want Yamista come tomorrow". Pizza wad terrible: not crunchy, plain un-spiced tomato sauce, absolutely tasteless cheese. When I complained to the owner he also started with denial and poor excuses, but eventually admitted the complaints were justified, earning him 2 stars for...

Discriminates young girl in wheelchair 🤮

We are a large group traveling with 17 disabled teenagers on vacation. We ate on the neighbour restarant Mythos (big recommandation by the way), and unfortunately their toilet cannot fit a wheelchair. So I asked this restaurant if they had a bigger toilet we could use instead. The guy in front was extremely condescending and then accused me for being a "not clever person" and irresponsissible because we chose Mythos restaurant. He didn't want to lend out his bigger toilet to the girl in wheelchair unless we promised to eat at his restaurant the very next day. We had other plans, but even if not, we will never set our foot in Maleme Taverna.

(You just lost 25 wellpaying customers because you only thought of money and not good service)

If you consider eating here, I suggest you go the restaurant Mythos right next door. They're very nice and helpful people and the food...

I think the actual average of 4.3 is correct. I have eaten here several times. If I had made a comment each time for the quality of the food I would have sometimes given 2 stars and other times 5. That's how it is ... sometimes we like it more than other times. Concerning the cooked dishes, there are only "Eleni's" recipes left from the many competition prizes she won. The cook today is in my opinion not as regular as Eleni when she was in the kitchen 32 years ago, it is difficult to replace the grandmother in the kitchen. For the service and the friendliness of the people who work it is always 5 stars because we can't give more. You can eat without worries here, I recommend this restaurant and if you don't like what's on your plate talk to the waiters, they will find a solution so that you are satisfied. It is always better to talk before than to give a bad rating....
