The guy who greeted us was lovely. Told us to sit anywhere. The old woman told us to move and smirked when we were making our way towards a 4 seat table and she thought we were off to a 8 seat table. She sat us at a 4 seat table, slammed the menus on the table! Told us to move the baby who she claimed as blocking the door way (she was waiting for the rush of none existent customers). The restaurant had a hand full of customers. We walked out! Wouldn’t waste your time! Wouldn’t even give it one - can’t comment on the food

To your response below. When we did sit at a 4 seater table, we were told our babies pushchair was in the way and to move her. The only place was near a bush! I don’t have hate but the ‘welcome feeling’ was certainly not felt! We didn’t want to stay and eat in your establishment after feeling such a negative vibe. Your mother did not smile once and she certainly didn’t welcome us into your restaurant, in fact she smirked and laughed. Maybe her approach should of been a bit more ‘ sorry please would you mind sitting at a smaller table that one is for larger groups, rather than the no, not there. That’s for 8-10 people. You are not 8-10 people and then laughing and smirking. Sarcasm was very unnecessary and even less appreciated!! And we did move and was made to feel even more unwelcome. Maybe work on your customer service a bit more. First impressions last!!!! I am certainly within my rights to give a review as this is a review website! And I certainly would not recommend...

For most people probably a fine experience in a family run Taverna, for me the opposite. We were with 6 people and first shared some starters which were fine. The bread was good and felt fresh. We had 5 different mains and most of them were tasty enough. One of us ordered the shrimp souvlaki and said that it was not very good. The colour of them was very pale, they were tasteless and they were not warm. I also tried them and fully agreed. I rarely complain in a restaurant but decided I needed to say something about it. When I told the owner that the dish was not very good, tasteless without seasoning and not warm, she did not take it well. She said the shrimp like this don't need seasoning and cannot be cooked further in order not to overcook. Multiple people before us ate it that evening and nobody complained. I insulted her family restaurant which they had been running for 36 years. She seemed very agitated and grabbed my plate and walked away. I agree shrimp should not be cooked too long but these were clearly more white then pink and I disagree that you shouldn't use a marinade or seasoning. My biggest gripe though is that the owner took it very personal, went in defense and didn't put the customer first. 15 minutes later or so she did quickly come to ask, do you want something else, but my evening was already ruined by then so I declined. They did take the shrimps of the check so an extra...

On a group holiday with friends, this was our first port of call entirely on a whim. What an absolute treat. Stepping out of the heat into the shady dining area was a dream in of itself, let alone the meal we would soon enjoy.

The tzatziki is an absolute must and the bread provided to dip is divine. I cannot undersell how gorgeous this was.

The main dishes we ordered all had such a homely taste which matched the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. The gyros and souvlaki are, needless to say, so meaty and full of flavour. The majority of the main dishes all seem to come with a simple salad and cold rice which can never go wrong.

The drinks are a terrific selection.

Perhaps the biggest talking point of the experience eating here, whilst also easily credited to the food, could very well be the service. Having only been in Crete for the better part of a few hours, this was the warm welcome we never could have asked for and an early highlight for our trip.

Since the start of the week, my fiancé and I have already taken the time to return for a little meal between the two of us and the experience was just as perfect, proving this venue is consistently exceptional for any occasion.

Oh and a complimentary pudding with homemade shots will forever be a win!

Thank you for a...

A nice family run restaurant. Its terrace decorated with all sorts of plants, garden decorations and vines hanging on the terrace ceiling, it's a romantic place for couples and family friendly too. The food is like traditional Greek home cooked meals. I tried the soutzoukakia (traditional Greek meatballs) and it was very good! Their menu is quite large but because it's still a very small business, be prepared that not all the menu items are available. Best to ask the waiter for suggestions. The service is also nice and friendly. Also, as per many of the restaurants in Maleme, they offer some raki afterwards, but this was their familys recepie for lemon raki. It was sweeter and less strong as regular raki, and I think it's at least worth the try.

The waiter was welcoming and smiled. The restaurant was dirty, old and not what we expected. We ordered: Pizza with cheese - it tasted sweet and was not better than others pizza. Pasta bolognese - It tasted of fish?! There were barely any meat in the dish. Greek speciality - Meat pie. When it came to the table, it look beautiful, but inside there were meat yes, but it was not to eat. It tasted very bad and was chewy. Greek speciality- Frikadellen It just beef rolls with tomato sauce with rice and fries. Nothing speciel. Then we were served a basket with dry bread and paid 4 euros for that. Drinks 3 Cokes, 1 ice tea, and a bottle water - that by the way was warm. We ended up paying 65 euros for the worst food on our hole vaccination.
