Souroupo — Restaurant in Municipality of Platanias

Great food and exceptional service. My wife and I came twice during our trip because the food was so good we were craving seconds. Lots of local options for those who want to experience cretian cuisine, but also many different other options for those who are looking for comfort food (pizza is phenomenal). George (waiter) was excellent in every aspect, he never approached our table when we were in conversation, but was very quick to arrive when he saw me look for him. There was one mistake in our order the first night but it was very quickly rectified without any hassle (he noticed before we did). Overall I would recommend Souroupo to anyone staying in or visiting Platanias. We are looking forward to returning.

We enjoyed: Dakos - like bruschetta on a large crouton. Margherita pizza. Giouvetsi - orzo pasta with beef in tomato...

Excellent rooftop location overlooking the mountains and the sea.

They do have people at the entrance down on the street trying to convince people to come on, which usually means I won't be a guest, but today I made an exception.

The waiter handling the rooftop tables were fast and helpful, and it felt as if he really wanted everyone to have a good time.

We ordered a stuffed burger, kids carbonara and pork with feta (on the recommendation of the waiter).

Unfortunately the bread and meat of the burger came in with a bit of a burnt taste to it, but the meat itself was still not overcooked. The kids carbonara was approved (and plate emptied). My pork with feta cheese was a good recommendation, and the meat was really tender (even though it might not have been the best cuts).

Excellent traditional Greek food! Souroupo is a family restaurant where the personnel really make you feel welcomed by their kindness and war We tried the magnificent Giovetsi / Youvetsi the first night on our stay in Platanias. That set the bar and no other restaurant we tried came close so we had to return a couple of times to Souroupo and we were always happy with whatever was served! The personnel were always happy, kind, warm and helpful in explaining and suggesting greek dishes and we truly felt welcomed!
