We just returned from a glorious week staying at Hotel Futura.
We wish we had booked two weeks and were sad to leave.
simple things first; Room bright, spacious, clean and well maintained, daily maid service delivering clean and fluffy towels. Pool clean and beautiful. Grounds, beautifully kept with lots of potted plants and beautiful trees. Location, perfect for a family holiday the quiet end of a bussling resort and close to the beach. Food, delicious.
Now for the staff. A family run hotel who are all warm and welcoming Easy to remember names as most are called George and even the ones who are not called George will likely respond to being George, even the lady who owns it wife/mother is called Georgina. Now let's talk about Nick or Nico as he prefers to be called or George if you can't remember those. He is always there with a smile as broad as his mother. He is a really lovely guy and works tirelessly to ensure everyone knows he is a truly "nice guy" ask for him as Nice Guy Nico as he prefers to be called. you can see him manning the bar and pouring huge drinks for the guests or wandering around the pool with a parrot on his arm. HE LOVES KARAOKE, so be sure to invite him for a duet, his favourite go to number is anything by sugar man or any other hugely famous south African artist, Paul Simon, Men at work or Pink Floyd. 🤣🤪🤣
In all seriousness without anymore sending up Nick. We came to Corfu as my partners family were holidaying from south Africa and staying on the other side of Chania. we had no idea they were South African of Greek heritage. They were utterly delightful, in fact all the staff were. as we were really visiting family one of which was having her 80th birthday we didn't spend as much time as we would have liked around the hotel but we will definitely be visiting again. My other half only really got one opportunity to enjoy the pool bar and their huge measures of rum but enjoy it he did, a late night, talk drinks and a long morning suffering before I kicked him into action for another day visiting family.
Greek night was amazing.
So a little more than your average review but this place is a little more than average.
Visit Crete and stay...
Read moreA really pretty place, with great rooms and food with reasonable prices. The hotel is a stone's throw from the beach and on a main through route to any number of other destinations. All amenities are close by and bus trips etc are frequent and very reasonably priced. We chose self catering but ate in a few times because the food was so nice. I was worried that our 12 yr old would be bored but the hotel receptionist won him round by greeting him with the wifi password upon arrival...the whole family have agreed we would happily go back to the same hotel again, but stay for longer next time. This hotel is not owned by a large faceless corporation, but rather a family and you will speak to and see the same faces every day. I wish I had more photographs as mine do not do the hotel justice. The rooms have oil paintings of the hotel complex inside, which reflects the aesthetic appeal of the place. The complex is not particularly large but it is built in the style of a traditional Greek village. There is dense flora all round - leafy and bright - lining the picturesque pathways and stairs that run off each other. It had me charmed from the outset. We were lucky to get a ground floor room with a large patio to dine on daily. The only observation I feel needs to be made, is that the hotel goes up by 3 stories in parts but does not have a lift. The layout/design would not support a lift in any way, this is no negative feature for myself as a lift would not sit well with the layout at all - but might be worth consideration for anyone booking with mobility issues...I would recommend contacting the hotel prior to booking, as mentioned this is a family concern and the staff will do their utmost to help...
Read moreAbsolute rip off. If it wasn't for the beauty of Crete which occupied us for the day this hotel would have ruined our holiday.
Money making scheme only.
Charged €2 for asking for a lemon wedge, to be given a whole lemon (which I waited 1 hour for and without informing us of any charges this was left billed as LEMONADE on check out. Never have a seen such a place.
The owner said she was upgrading us to an apartment although we booked a studio as if there was a massive difference in price and she was doing a big favour (another review said they do this anyway since studios don't actually exist). Don't be fooled- all the rooms are the same.
For what you pay:
You get a small pool
One soap between 3 people to share (they below Shampoos are not not worth giving....also what happened to hygiene?)
€14 for Aircon (the rooms are built in such a way you can't do without it)
Beds are so hard. Not great for people with back problems
The breakfast had nothing special or worth having. The owner is not greek so part of the breakfast for a cuisine from their native country.
Overall not...
