The place is overall nice to sit and waiters seem nice at the very beginning, but they are trying to take advantage of tourists, so be careful! We ordered and then the waiter asked: would you like normal bread or garlic bread? They don’t ask: ‘DO you want bread’, so you assume that you get it for free, like some places do. Afterwards they charge 8 (!) euros for bread and tzatziki that you didn’t want in the first place! Very sad that you would treat people like that, cause the place was OK and the food was OK, not bad. But if you start treating customers with respect, probably you guys would grow into a decent and good restaurant. I would’ve given 4 stars if it wasn’t like this. But this tourist trap kind of stuff is just not done! So I won’t recommend this place to anyone. There are far better places in Rethymno, with honest waiters.
Edit: We have tried a lot of restaurants and never got bread which they charged afterwards if we didn’t ask for it. The waiter never asked us if we wanted it, he only asked which type we want, which is misleading and I’m sure you’re very well aware of that. Another example, I asked a soft drink and the waiter asked: medium or large? While I saw afterwards on the menu you could also pick small. Those are just tricks. Sad that this is your business model. I really hope you do something with...
Read moreMy wife, daughter, her boyfriend & I enjoyed a week's holiday on Crete over the last week of September. Because we booked at a self-catering AirBnB, we ate "out" most of the time; and we ended up visiting a number of different places! I will happily recommend DAY NIGHT in Rethymno! Everything about our experience there was great... food, wine, ambience, view, comfortable seating... but perhaps the best was their "attitude"! In general, we found the people on Crete to be really pleasant; however, the staff at DAY NIGHT were especially nice. We were greeted and made to feel welcome by at least four or five people (not just the the "waiter" who helped us). They were "engaging"... coming over to our table every now & again to check that we were enjoying ourselves, but without "intruding"! A number of them offered to take photos of our group (something they've obviously done before as they all came out really nicely). Our waiter was particularly helpful... we don't know the various Greek / Cretan wine varieties, but we explained to him what we liked... and his recommendation was perfect! All in all, a very pleasant experience; probably the best of all the restaurants, cafe's, taverns we visited! Thanks... David & family -...
Read moreWe came in, a party of 9, very hungry including hungry kids. We ordered the starters (salad, vine leaves and garlic bread) which took 40 minutes to get to the table!! We thought of leaving, but since we already got our drinks tries to be patient. When finally arriving the vine leaves portion was very small and it taste like it was from a can (nothing like vine leaves we had in other places), there was just one peace of garlic bread...When we complained about the amount of garlic bread served the waiter came back and told us there was nothing he could do about it. Starved, we decided to pay for our starters and leave. No apology was offered by the staff, no attempt to compensate for our extremely long wait or for the tiny portions served. The waiters tried to be apologetic, what else could they do? The main courses might be good, but no food is worth waiting over an hour for, especially when you are with...
