A small place which packs a mega punch. The location of the restaurant and it's outdoors are nice and calm, a bit away from all the noise and buzzing of the street. The food here is splendid, with each bite you can imagine with how much love the team has put in to the dish. The starter we chose was spinach pies, they were super cheap. But it was one good pie with modest amount of pastry which is filled with the right amount of fresh spinach. It felt like the pie was baked after it was ordered which made it way better to eat. the shrimp saganaki felt like a dish of the gods. It was well balanced with the right amounts of different spices which triggered all your taste buds. Don't go by the look of the dish, since it is plate licking good. The other main course was stuffed calamari, this is a dish for kalamari and cheese lovers. The calamari was of decent portions stuffed with feta and other spices. It's a grilled calamari so the calamari can be a bit chewy, the dish comes along with a side of tomato and mint leaf salad which was also heavenly.
Coming to the staff here, they were super polite and friendly. A must visit place if you are...
Read moreI'm sorry, but this was my worst dining experience ever, even though we chose the place based on the reviews here. It wasn't crowded, but it was still a lot of orders for one waiter and chef, because we waited at least an hour for a not very large portion of food. The homemade chicken gyros was delicious, the pork souvlaki was burnt a little and no side dish came with it, which although we ordered, was brought in a separate bowl and later than souvlaki. In the meantime, a duo of accordionists were allowed to play a song... right next to us. We were with a small child, so this situation was an extra inconvenience for us, and our little boy was already very hungry. Maybe it was just a combination of coincidences that caused the negative experience, but we would definitely not come here again. Sorry. The food was otherwise delicious, but nothing extra, and the waiter didn't really pay attention to the needs of the guests, just doing his routine. On a positive note, we did get a complimentary cake, grapes and raki, but that was long after asking for the bill. So we were here for...
Read moreThe setting of this tiny restaurant was delightfully romantic. Tucked in an alley of old town Rethymno, with just a few tables outside, and nothing but the kitchen inside. We waited a good twenty minutes or more to receive the menus, and as much time thereafter to get to order. This is not a huge problem really, but we were starving so tonight it was annoying. Don’t get me wrong- the staff were really nice, just not in a hurry for anything. One of the dishes we ordered- Barley with Shrimp, they told us was going to take about 40min to cook. It was fine with us, we numbed our hunger with wine and bread while waiting! When we finally got our food, we hungrily ate some down only to realize it wasn’t all that yummy. My Carbonara was really dry- barely any sauce, with dry pieces of smoked pork in the dry pasta. The shrimp in my husband’s dish were dry, but there were some good flavors in the dish. All in all we were a bit disappointed with the meal, but we were happy in the romantic setting, and with the...
