Arhontiko — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

My wife and I ate at Arhantiko last night and enjoyed the food, the house white, the service, and the great panoramic views from the rooftop terrace. I intended to rate 4 blobs, despite my wife receiving the wrong main-course pork dish (medallions rather than chop, as ordered) and us being offered "limoncello on the house" which failed to materialise.

Tonight, we met-up with four friends and decided to return.

Highlight was the huge pork chop - served as ordered.

Lowlight was the rump steak - cooked to perfection, sliced tagliata style, but ridiculously small.

I queried with the waiter who agreed it was small but talked up the quality. I should have asked what it weighed before cooking.

I agree, it was excellent, but suggest that a weight should be put on the menu as a warning. I'm guessing 150g.

Alternatively, serve a normal size portion and charge more,...

Our best dining experience in Lindos so far. Our visit started with a warm greeting by the owner who directed us to an elevated table on the first floor. We were quickly presented with menus and wine list, both were extensive with plenty of choice. The wine was exactly as described and reasonably priced. We ordered sea bass and pork chops which were perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The white and dark chocolate desert was delicious. The service during the entire meal was exceptional, attentive, friendly and efficient. Expect to pay higher than standard restaurant prices but in return expect quality food and wine with first rate service. We really could not fault our visit and we will be returning again before our holiday ends....

Unfortunately had to leave much earlier than planned due to the waiter.

We sat down and ordered a bottle of wine. Our plan was to have a couple of glasses before ordering some food. Upon informing the waiter, he reminded us in no uncertain terms that this was a restaurant (we were definitely aware of this) and we wouldn’t just be able to order drinks.

All in all it was a pretty unpleasant interaction and having travelled to Greece numerous times we’ve never encountered pressure tactics such as this so we took our wine and went elsewhere. A shame because the location is...
