I looked online at reviews before going here, and the majority were pretty positive in the main. So our family of three ate here as we like rooftop eating with the view of Lindos acropolis, and also because I spotted meze on their menu at 29 euros for two people, and I knew my wife likes meze. I had meze once before elsewhere, and it was a series of delicious small plates - a grilled sardine (or red mullet?), dips and bread, some salad, a Greek sausage, or similar grilled pork chunks, and delicious small grilled lamb chops etc. Just when you thought you must be at the end, another small plate would appear! But I was disappointed in Kalypso's meze. It came all together on a single large plate, with a side plate each of cooked potatoes and carrots. The Greek specialties on the large meze plate were heavily loaded with vegetables, not a lot of meat - one moderate size meatball each, two or three chunks of stifado. Otherwise it was a green pepper stuffed with rice, (my wife left it to me) dolmades stuffed with rice, (and a little mince I think, not sure) two spring rolls with rather tasteless vegetables ( I left most of mine!) and overcooked mushy and tasteless marrow slices (might have been courgette but too watery I think for a proper regulation Greek courgette). However my daughter had chosen a simple plain grilled chicken fillet with chips and her dish was fine - just wish I'd chosen something else instead of the meze! Service was good - meals arrived in just under 20 minutes - and staff were attentive and friendly. We did get a free chocolate cake for dessert too. Price wise it was OK, similar to nearby competitors. With wine and drinks we paid 50 euros including tip. I'd suggest checking the menu carefully and avoiding the meze for reasons explained above. I wouldn't rush back, but if I did go back I'd eat a different...

Not worth your time or money. I waited 1hr45 minute from the moment to get my first plate, two slices of cheese + a few slices of grilled vegetables underneath. The proprietress/waitress Kiki was heard in a defensive tone talking to Italians next to me when they complained their food hadn't arrived for a similar length of time: "It's not me, it's the kitchen." No inkling of customer service. To me, she said: "Sorry it's late", no service recovery actions. Disappeared for the rest of the night.
I paid 18 euros for a plate of Chicken Matsi pasta. I ordered it because I thought it would be a local specialty. It was soggy noodles, tomato "water" with four pieces of chicken, four flakes of parmesan, and the only flavour was salt. Not worth the 2 hours of waiting. Total bill: 37 euros for one person. A delicious meal served in reasonable time can be had at half the price elsewhere in Lindos.
Upset, ready to leave immediately after a horrible meal - I took out my credit card to pay and the proprietress immediately took out her cellphone, said "Photo" and took a photo of me without my consent. I was so shocked at what just happened, and was not able to protest. Is this photo because I'm the only Asian person at the restaurant?
I'd give this restaurant...
Read moreKalypso restaurant is absolutely amazing! I was super impressed with the variety of the menu and of course the taste and quality of the food. The customer service is unparalleled, and the staff are so welcoming, kind, and celebratory. The food was extraordinary! The owner does all of the cooking, and he is a Master chef. I really appreciate that they share the recipes with anyone who asks and welcome everyone as family. The view of the acropolis is gorgeous and I always have such a wonderful experience each time I go.
I was really disheartened by the comment below about the owner of the restaurant being drunk. I was there that night, and had a wonderful conversation with her and her family. She was not drunk at all, in fact, she doesn’t even drink alcohol ever. She was exhausted from the end of the summer being late October and being so late at night. She is one of the kindest and most welcoming human beings you will ever meet. It makes me so sad when people write mean-spirited reviews regarding wonderful people who go above and beyond to serve us and give us a traditional Greek experience.
I look forward to returning to this restaurant many times in the future, and I highly recommend the Greek spring rolls and the moussaka! Thank you for welcoming me with such love and kindness. I look forward to my next meal at...
