I recently dined at Pizzeria Pomodoro, hoping for a pleasant evening, but unfortunately, the experience fell short on several fronts. From the outset, the service was less than welcoming.
Our waitress appeared disinterested and was noticeably curt throughout the meal. Simple requests were met with visible impatience, and there was a general lack of attentiveness that made the dining experience uncomfortable. The fact we got told to remove a half empty bottle of water off the table set the mood for the rest of the night. Even though we were in there for approximately 45 minutes with how quick it felt they wanted us in and out.
As for the food, I ordered the lasagne, which was particularly disappointing. The dish was overwhelmed by an excessively strong nutmeg flavour that overpowered any of the other ingredients. Instead of a rich, balanced taste, it left a lingering and unpleasant aftertaste that made it difficult to finish. The pasta sheets were undercooked and the meat tasted like it had been reheated from frozen. When I politely raised this concern, I was told that this is simply how they make it. There was no offer to adjust or replace the dish, and I was still charged for it, despite not being able to finish more than a few bites. The pizza was fine — nothing memorable, just a standard pizza that certainly didn’t reflect the prices or the expectations.
The service was unprofessional from the beginning. Our waitress was dismissive and visibly irritated when we asked basic questions about the menu. Things escalated when, after a brief interaction, she returned to the service area and spent several minutes speaking in her own language — clearly about us, based on repeated glances in our direction and body language. It was an uncomfortable and disrespectful situation. She never returned once I spoke my concerns about the rudeness, and sent another waiter. Who decided to reduce the price of the lasagne by €5, which was kind but still a rip off and confirmed that I will never return.
Overall, the food was far from five-star, and the service was some of the worst I’ve experienced anywhere. I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but this visit warranted it. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience, and I sincerely hope management takes steps to improve both their food and their customer service.
I will not be returning, even if it was the last...
Read moreThe vibe of this place was so weird, from the moment we walked in all 6 of us just felt it. It was very hush hush and we all expressed to each other that we felt like we couldn't talk in our normal range. There were a few couples in there that either weren't taking to each other or were very quiet, I wonder if they felt the vibes as well 🤔
The waitress seemed on edge like she'd be forced by gun point to work there. She made us feel very uncomfortable by asking us to move an empty bottle of water we'd brought in from the table, might seem trivial but it was such odd behaviour how she asked for it to be removed, as though if someone saw it they wouldn't come into the restaurant.
Because of the good reviews we decided to order. One of the party ordered a lasagna, this was not to her liking (pasta sheets were not cooked thoroughly and an overwhelming taste of nutmeg, a few of us tried it to confirm) so we told the staff there and was rudely told 'that's how we make it here' and she will still have to pay for it. About 5 minutes later the waitress and another member of staff stood behind my daughter who had ordered the lasagna and talked for about 5 minutes in Greek, it was very rude behaviour and made us all very uncomfortable, we couldn't wait to get out of there! My daughter voiced her concerns and told them it was very rude to stand there clearly talking about her. The waitress never returned.
Another member of staff came and gave us our bill, they'd knocked €5 off the lasagna, which although we appreciate the gesture we shouldn't have had to pay for it at all.
After that we paid and left, never to return again!
Food: obviously the lasagna is a big 👎🏼 the pizza was okay, nothing special and tasted just like a pizza ordered in a pub.
Atmosphere: horrible and not welcoming at all.
Staff: strange bunch and rude.
Recommend: unless you want to feel like you are in the Simon Pegg movie 'The Worlds End', where nothing feels normal, then it's...
Read moreWe were a group of six friends. From the very start, the waiters rushed our order. We requested two separate bills (2 people and 4 people), but they repeatedly insisted that only one card payment was allowed, forcing us to pay the second bill in cash.
When the drinks arrived, one waiter suddenly said, “I don’t know what that glass is for,” instead of matching it to our order. At table setup, they placed plates for only three people, and the other three received theirs 10 minutes later.
The cocktails were way too sweet, so I ordered a sparkling water—and the third waiter asked bizarre questions like how big and how many glasses I wanted, clearly not paying attention. The food was mostly good (apart from one dish that seemed missing ingredients), but before we even finished, they started clearing our plates.
When we asked to pay again, they again insisted only one card payment was possible and told us to “go to the bar” since “you can’t pay at the table.” We had been told this five times already during our visit. I lost my patience, called out the service as unfriendly and unprofessional, paid without tipping, and left.
To make things worse, our youngest friend left their phone charger behind. When they returned to retrieve it, a waiter asked where we were from and what our problem was before handing it back, making it feel like we were being accused of something.
This kind of attitude completely ruined our evening. The service was chaotic, confusing, and unprofessional. We will...
