I don’t like giving low marks, but I don’t have any other choice tonight. I am attaching photos to prove my point, and hope the management take my feedback seriously.
After my visit tonight, the short version is that you should only come here for the pizza. We had a margherita and I will dare say it was in my top-5 pizzas that I have ever eaten - and I have eaten a lot of pizza. I saw other pizzas being served and they all looked spectacular. The neapolitan-style crust is light, soft, and tasty. Seriously, you cannot go wrong if you have the pizza here, it will blow your mind.
The spaghetti was also above average. It was tasty, there was an element of creation involved, and although we have had better spaghetti elsewhere, it was about what we would expect at such a tourist spot.
My main gripe with tonight’s visit is the sad caprese salad that we were presented with - as you will see in the photos, it is a bunch of hastily cut tomatoes with a mozzarella thrown on top, a few drops of olive oil and some traces of basil.
I have also uploaded a copy of the receipt. This caprese salad was the most expensive item we ordered at 15€. The amazing pizza was only 10€, the spaghetti was 14€ each.
And this is where I draw the line: the caprese salad we were served does not reflect a 15€ salad which is more expensive than a pasta dish. Take a minute and look up photos of a caprese salad online. Take a minute to go back in time and look at the photos that have been uploaded - about a year ago ‘Traveller Gerger’ uploaded a photo of a caprese salad that looks like night and day compared to what we got tonight. So where did it go wrong over the last 12 months?
My gripe is not with the price. I’ve had more expensive salads and meals a couple of restaurants down the road. My gripe is with the fact that the caprese salad we were served tonight looks like it barely costs 2€ to make. There was no artistry, no presentation, just a bunch of ingredients throw together and then served in less than a minute.
My final complaint is the atmosphere - its a very busy place, but we were sat next to a table of 12 extremely loud children and 2 extremely indifferent adults who enabled their shouting with their silence.
Summary: visit for the pizza, beware...
Read moreCurrently holidaying through Europe, we stumbled upon Mamma Mia in Sifnos — and it perfectly captured that casual, beachside holiday vibe. The restaurant is completely open to the sea, sitting right near the sand, so you’re dining with salty air, sunshine, and ocean views.
The interiors are simple and understated, but it totally works — channeling that relaxed, laid-back charm of an Italian eatery on a Greek island.
We dined as a group of 10 and noticed the place is ideal for big groups and families. There were people of all ages, from kids to elderly diners — it’s a crowd-pleaser for everyone. Tip: definitely book ahead, even on a midweek night like we went (it was packed).
Portions were very generous and perfect for sharing. We ordered a few entrees and pizzas for the table, and most of us still ordered mains — but barely finished them because of how much there was to share. Prices were really reasonable, so we got to feast without breaking the budget.
Service started off a little slow, but once the food began to arrive, it came out steadily and kept the table happy. Totally understandable for a packed house.
Overall, for an Italian spot in Greece, it’s a solid choice — casual, fun, and great value in a...

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5
(Scale: 1 = poor, 2 = fair, 3 = good, 4 = very good, 5 = excellent) Visit date: August 16
Beautiful location at Platis Gialos with a relaxed and friendly summer atmosphere (ambiance 4/5). Service was polite and accommodating (3/5) – they even welcomed our dog without hesitation and brought water for him, which was very thoughtful.
Food overall was 3/5. The best dish was the caserecce al pesto di pistacchio with burrata (4/5). Amatriciana and rigatoni tartufati were decent (3/5 each). Vitello tonnato (2/5) and aglio olio (2/5 – far too oily) were disappointing. The Emiliana salad was poor both in taste and portion (2/5). Wines by the glass (Chianti, Malagouzia, Frescati) were pleasant.
We paid around €35 per person, which felt overpriced for the quality offered. High prices are a serious issue across Sifnos, and unfortunately this place is no exception. Toilets were okay but could be better.Portions should be bigger to further justify the price
Overall, an okay-to-good trattoria with kind staff and a great location – but food is inconsistent and prices don’t fully justify...
