Well, this was not planned.. But I really do hope that if someone reads this comment is the someone who owns and runs this restaurant. My wife and I are restaurant owners as well, and we know that phrase "no one will ever do it like you do." In this case it is absolutely true. (But honestly I don't know the owner so I cannot tell this.) First, We sat down on the terrace which is huge on the side of the children's corner because that's where we saw the ashtrays. It was about 10 minutes when we realized maybe no one noticed us due the place is huge. We changed our seats to the other side hoping someone will notice. I had eye contact with some of the employees but no one came to our table, so I stood up and asked if there was anyone who works here. One guy just simply told us : "oh sorry, we thought you were just chilling there" ??????????? In A RESTAURANT?! so people just go and sit at a table in a restaurant without ordering anything and chilling? Okay someone came and asked what would you like to order.. well first a menu please due we did not get anything like a menu... We ordered freddo cappuccino, 2 cokes and a crepe with chocolate and banana. Coffee was great, crepes were disgusting, the fake nutella, the dirty forks...... One literally 1 piece of napkins...... Wow... This is just insane. This place looks amazing and has true potential but the service, the food itself... I mean come on the crepes price and margin would allow you to buy REAL NUTELLA but I guess you simply don't care about the quality. Or I hope you do... I am very sad that this didn't turn out well, I had high hopes with...
Read moreThis is a typical tourist tavern located on the seafront of Sitia. The food is very basic and certainly not representative of Cretan cuisine, despite what the name of the tavern suggests. Service was not bad – the waiters knew their job – but the kitchen was clearly unable to cope with the sheer number of tables the restaurant operates.
We went without a reservation and, to be fair, we were informed there would be a 40-minute wait. We accepted, since the town was packed that evening due to a municipal event with live music. We were lucky enough to find a table right by the sea, which was probably the best we could hope for without planning ahead.
However, while the rest of my family was served and finished their meals within about an hour and a half ( and certainly not within 40 minutes), my own dish arrived almost two hours later – just when we had to leave. I ended up taking it away in a box and eating it the next morning.
The atmosphere can be pleasant if you manage to get a front-row table by the sea. Otherwise, the place feels chaotic, with too many tables spread over different levels, and quite a bit of noise in certain areas.
I might give it another chance on a quieter night if I happened to be in town, but I certainly wouldn’t travel to Sitia just for the purpose of...
Read moreFool me once, it’s your fault. Fool me twice, it’s my fault. From my first visit to this place I remember the blunt food and the heavy cream and cheese in most dishes. I also remember that they charge for the playground which is way uncommon in Greek restaurants, but that’s the least as this is a service and it should be charged.
What disappointed me in my second visit was that the service was at a loss, out of the 7 dishes the 2 were dirty, one desert spoon had lipstick on it, the food took ages to arrive at the table with long pauses in between and to top all these up they charged us 7.20€ for 5 slices of bread. When I complained about the latter they mumbled something about the charge being for the cover cost which is illegal in Greece.
Last but not least they have also occupied the pavement with tables blocking completely the passage of pedestrians. No other business has done so even in summertime, only them. This is probably...
