Ok, so first timer in Japanese cuisine and my friend was trying to convince me to try some sushi. For starters, I was always reluctant to try something that contains raw fish (or at least this is what is being said!), but I needed to form my own opinion. So, we ended up at Koi, which is one of the best Sushi bars in town -if not the best. Saturday night and by the time we got there, there was already a waiting line; thankfully not a long one. The staff was really kind and helpful. We got to sit inside and the place had a really cozy atmosphere. A couple of open doors help to circulate the air and keep the environment covid-free. Though, I have to admit that if the weather was not good, there was not enough spacing between the tables to keep the respective safety distance. One downside is the really small tables and I am not any huge person myself. However, my taller friend had a slight problem make herself comfortable and there were times that we couldn't fit all the dishes on the table. Regarding food, I have to admit that everything was delicious! The waitress picked our order without any significant delay and the food came almost instantly. Everything was exactly as it was supposed; well cooked and in right temperature. Taste was awesome and the plates were large enough to feel full. And just to clarify: nothing was raw! The only downside is that the standard beverages (such as Coca-Cola or Pepsi) were not being served; instead they have only Green cola and the beverages from this company. Prices are really good, considering that we are talking about a foreign cuisine. The cost is really affordable and need to point out that you are leaving the place being so full, that you can't eat anything else. Overall, an awesome place to have lunch or dinner, try something new, sit with a friend and catch up. Easy to access, in the city center, but note that you may want to skip using your car to get there, because of...
Read moreNew Edit 2024 It WAS one of the best sushi places on town , but it seems that like every other place they tossed the ball. Prices went up, portions went down. So let me elaborate on it:
-Sushi served, twice now, in two different occasions(days), AT the shop, was cold and looked like it was ready for at least an hour or two.
-Prices have increased 10-15%, for no apparent reason in the last couple months
-Portions, most importantly, have been almost halved.
-Place has stayed the same, more tables cramped up on the inside, makes it not only heavily crowded but also extremely noisy.
I have attached the new photos for your reference.
Review of 2022 Easily the best sushi I ve tasted amongst 4 others in town, the variety is simply overwhelming, the prices are unbeatable, the quality through the roof and the staff is the most courteous and kind i ve met. Some might say it's good but not the best, well if you re willing to pay double or triple the money then yes, you will definitely find better somewhere, maybe Japan? Just kidding. The bar is always crowded so you might have to wait a bit, the wait however is definitely worth it. All sushi is fresh and not preped 5 hrs before, we went for the dragon and California ones and they were delicious. You can go for the more traditional ones without the dressing and extras which definitely won't disappoint but where is the fun in that ? Can't recommend it enough,...
Read moreWent here on the last day of our holliday to eat some Sushi (forgot to make an image of the nigiri)
Our experience begon with me calling to make a reservation. This was not possible and we were told just to come by, okay fine.
After we arrived we were supprised to see a pretty long line. So know if you go some what later in the evening (after 21:00) you will have to wait. We had to wait 25 minutes, while some young kids were just chilling there the whole time drinking water.
The food arrived relatively quick, the fish was of decent quality, sad that the Sushi gets ruined by hot rice. This is not supposed to be...
The noodles were really tasty, same as the empura schrimp and the popcorn shrimp! Would recommend them both.
My conclusion: Feeling like sushi after having stuffed yourself full with gyros, souvlaki and other delicious greek food then this is a fine place to eat. Not to expensive (we had a bill of €80 with 4 people who eat good) just be prepared that the sushi is not the same as in the Netherlands (where i am from) but it will satisfy your needs.
Tip, please make sure the rice aint hot, that made the difference of a 3 and a 4...
