This is a pretty little brewery, taproom and restaurant set on the ridge of the Caldera along which the major road runs. Set amid the vineyards of the classic basket vines that are to be found all over Santorini, this modern looking building is a beautiful cool space to spend some idyllic hours, especially during the sun-blasted afternoons in Santorini. At the time of this review, there were five beers on tap: a witbier, a lager, a pale ale, a double IPA, and a wine-beer hybrid of the lager and a white wine from the local vines. The beers were all solidly executed and fresh. They had aroma and palate profiles that would be familiar to anybody who appreciates craft beer. To me, having this beer on Santorini, was nothing short of a minor miracle, given how the tap water tasted and how even salinity appeared in the wine, it was amazing to me that such clean styles could be executed. You have a nice view of the brew facility from the dining room through tall glass windows. Everything looks shiny, and well-maintained. There is a service area next to the dining area where there are plans to serve beers directly from six fermenters…so definitely inquire about this possibility when visiting. The gift shop is well-stocked with options to remember your time at the Ftelos Brewing Company. As the brewery is sometimes visited by tour groups, the dining room may possibly be closed to cater to these visiting groups. You’ll still be able to have beers, just no food during these times. I highly recommend visiting the Ftelos Brewing Company when in Santorini whether for an afternoon beer or two or for dinner where the menu is...
Read moreOf the countless breweries across the world I’ve been to, I can confidently say Ftelos is world-class. Their beer is delicious, the food is nearly unparalleled, service is top notch, and the views are breathtaking. This is not a place to miss if you like food, beer, or good views and are in Santorini.
After the hike from Oia, my fiancé and I chose to split the beer tasting which consisted of a six beer flight. Each sizable pour was paired with a bite of food. The waiter walked through our tasting with expert detail. And wow! Every single beer matched up so well with every bite. It was literally perfect with the unique flavors mirroring each other. This was truly a highlight and a memorable experience.
The rest of the food that we ordered was of the same caliber. The white bread, which was made with the Blue Monkey beer, was so tasty. And then the focaccia was the best we’ve had on our entire trip! We then rounded everything out with a sausage platter that was even more than we expected. Multiple kids of sausages and several dips, along with pickled onions and potato salad. I’m all honestly, I don’t know how you could go wrong with their food.
Having been to more breweries than I’d readily admit, I’ve been fortunate to experience all sorts of beers and brewery experiences. The experience at Ftelos might have been the single best...
Read moreSo I am NOT a beer person and this place was awesome. My husband loves to hit local breweries when we travel and typically I just tag along, not expecting much. However, this place was super impressive! He went for the tasting which was really cool. Mike our server got me a glass of wine since I didn't like beer. I had the sea bass for dinner which was 10 stars - not kidding! At a brewery? That seemed crazy to me, but is was SO good! Mike also asked if anyone had allergies. My husband is allergic to tree nuts, so he made sure there was no cross contamination. Nuts and nut oils are used way more frequently in Europe than in the states, so at this point in our trip my husband had already had a couple of allergic reaction moments. I thought his level of effort to make everything safe for my husband was incredibly thoughtful. Our only downside was we came for the jazz musician who was scheduled to come on at 8pm, but didn't even show up until 9pm and didn't start playing until well after 9:20 when we'd finally given up and left the rooftop eating area (which is stunning). We were disappointed to see that the gift shop had closed by that point (hours weren't posted), so he couldn't even buy a pint glass or tshirt. So if you think you want some swag from this place I would buy it before you go up for dinner or whenever you...
